because they are totally different to drive Steve, the Saxo makes all its torque deep down low, with a big chunk right from idle, whereas the Corsa has it midrange at 4kRPM. it has a 15lb/ft torque advantage over the Saxo, but with a 50kg weight difference. where the Saxo starts to lean out further up the rev range, the Corsa is at its strongest between 3 and 5k RPM. can we please please stop arguing about this. yes the VTR is a nippy little car which handles superbly from standard, but it IS slower in a straight line against a 1.6 Corsa regardless of standing or rolling start.

going from experience, I used to own a corsa ( not a fast one but still ) the pug is far better for the 0-60's thats whats why i got one, you will probably find that top speeds are slower to achieve but with the range to 0-60 its fucking imense.

I would say the 1.6 would after some time, but if it was a 0-60 it would be a close call.

Off the line a 100bhp VTR and a 106bhp Corsa Sport are near on the same, I would say that the VTR would get off the line quicker due to the nature of the 8v engine, once away and the speeds increase and the rev range starts to be higher and the 8v looses its advantage the 16v Corsa engine DOES overtake and passes.

As said previously, even if the 1.6 corsa is slightly faster than the facelift vtr, once it gets to corners it's set in stone which would be last.
Also said previously corners are everywhere these days.

i hated saxo's and thought they were shite, borrowed fads bros one
and it turned out to be one of the most fun adn entertaining standard cars ive driven, handling was and IMO faster than any standard 1.6 16v ive driven
and it would rape a 1.4 16v sideways
that is all

i've always assumed they handled better than corsas, standard form etc
you can see from the stance of the two cars, corsa is deffo more of a shopping/town car than a hot hatch.
dunno how i ended up with one

My old Civic 1.6 VTI VTEC would piss all over a Saxo VTR. And probably shit on it too
