i'm no physicist, but i can't see a 60+ tonne tank doing anywhere near the speeds of Steve's Cupra, even if it had the entire world as a track

WHat frontal area are you using, i estimate it at 1.9m squared, which with 300bhp equates to 180mph

1.605 frontal area
0.385 Cd
500bhp
223mph
not a chance.

Have you tested it? remember this is theoretical, assuming optimum gearing to achieve the power at the speed and with an infinitely long piece of road, i don't think you will have had either.

Performance Ford Mag had a capri thrash a while back (which is why i picked the capri)
theres a 300bhp one here (which is why i picked 300bhp)
it did 144mph, on the limiter. BECAUSE OF THE GEARING, which that calculator does not account for
there is also a 500bhp one, which did 170mph on the limiter NOT 223.

Read my post!!! I said assuming optimum gearing and with infinite road!!!!
And where did you get that frontal area, I've calculated 2.086m squared which with 500bhp gives 206 top end, quite reasonable i think.

i did a bit of maths using the formula on that calc you posted
capri has track of 1422mm and is 1394mm high
times them together, divide by 1000, and times by 0.9 gives you 1.605m squared.

My bad. I used the width not the track
I just got the track and height as 1478.3 and 1323.4 which equals 1.76 and with 500 bhp that gives 219mph. Which i honestly think is do able.

anyone read august's total vauxhall?
on page 26, some tart wrote in and said that here bf's corsa gsi will do 137mph lol, tv took the piss saying we'll get on the phone to vauxhall, autocar and what car? testers and tell them to bin tens of thousands of pounds worth of testing equipment and get your boyfriend instead lol
in the v-files it says my old corsa sport would have done 112 and i think thats a bit optimistic, these are the speeds when the engine is new not after 50k+

so a car makes peak power when its new i tihnk not!! a well run in engine after 50k will make more power than a new one.
120mph was top speed out of mine, using Garmin GPS

Im 99% sure the F13 non CR and the F15 top out 1t 119, so anyone actully thinking they got over that, let alone close in a standard 1.4/1.6 will be dissapointed

I had a F15 on mine and i can tell you it def doesnt top out at 119!
ill remind you of a certain race with a Punto GT, and he commented on the speed we reached (test track)

F13 @ 6619rpm (std limiter) is 117mph.
F15 can do over 125, but unsure top end. 1.6 came with F15 and the tiggys do 125mph book speed due to the better shape over the corsa. So not much more, i think i read that the theoretical top speed on std limiter is 127mph.
I love this thread....l
Can i just say...
Andy Hamilton
214bhp - throttle bodied 1.6 16v - 145lb ft torque..
Bruntingthorpe 2002
135mph top speed.........

Haven't read the whole post, but from using tom tom and road angel in a few corsas, ive found that vauxhall seem to set the clocks about 10% out, which would be about right......
so you lot saying 125-130 etc, well thats only 112.5 - 117mph(probably a bit less)
