I paid £9 a lesson, for mine!
Make it £100 a lesson, and you have to take at least 1 per week for a year, and perhaps we won't have as much congestion on the roads......should make those environmental-weirdo's happy!

I know! I started learning to drive then stopped, when I started again I couldn't believe the price! I suppose it makes sense though, you're let loose in their car for an hour!!!

an IQ and common sense test would be better as said.
Also more focus on lane discipline, maybe make it an offence to stray into other lanes on the motorway when the adjacent lane is clear

jade/coling - i only paid 45? didnt have to pay instructor for car on top of that?
corsa boy whatever - you actually said ^^^ that half the time deaths are caused from peopel overtaking because the vehicle infront is going slow, im sorry but this is bollocks. if you are 100% sure you have clear road to overtake, then there will not be a crash or a death, if youre not sure, then DONT overtake??!!! so fook if car is going slowly infront, not goina get there any faster by driving like a wanker?

Precisely......it's better to be cautious and be delayed for a minute or two behind a slow-moving car, than risk pulling out into the path of an oncoming vehicle that you can't see due to a bend in the road, dip, hill, trees, elephants, whatever.

I think in Germany, they have speed cameras on the autobahns, and you're fined for not doing a minimum speed in a particular lane, in other words if you're slow, keep to the inside
They also have signs telling you what speed you should do so that when you reach the roandabouts at the end of the road the lights will be on green
