They have never been beaten at home.

That was England's worst defeat for 13 years!

Shocking though have to admit, seems the same old problems are coming back to haunt us!

like I said, should of stuck to 4-4-2. Our players are obviously not capable of playing in any other formation.

What I don't get is, we hammer the likes of Andorra and Greece and then he feels the need to change the whole formation because a few players are out surely we should have the depth in squad to simply replace these players. Even if they're not as good as those who are injured/suspended, it still means we don't have to mess around with the whole team.

Andy Gray got it spot on, we hadnt conceeded in 7games I think so why change the back 4? Everyone plays it for their clubs and understands their roles. You can change anything in front of that- 3mids 3 forwards, 5mids 1 forward, the dreaded diamond anything but change the defence! And away v a decent team.

I personally think McClaren doesnt know what he is doing. It was obvious by halftime it wasnt working and we were lucky to be 0-0 but he didnt change it! It took the 2nd goal with 20mins left when the game was over for him to do something.

Then he comes out and says we controlled the game!!!! What game was he watching??!!

Love the fact how people slated downing etc when he has played. he gpt singled out because of the fact he had a previous connection witht he manager and he plays for a northern team. He's had a little more than 5 hours international football and never really put a foot wrong. If people actually did watch him every week they could see gis game isn't to beat a man. he doesn't need to when he provides good crosses in. he was involved in most chances England produced against macedonia.
He has consitently performed OK for england and did not deserve dropping.

England should have played 4-4-2 just like in previous games.

There were no crosses into the box and a total lack of width using that formation.

England's attack was poor, fat frank was shit.

The croats could see what England were going to do wtih this formation, fanny about witht he ball at the back between ferdinand and Terry and then pass the ball for neville to boot it up to crouch or rooney. Garbage.

If we are going to play 3 - 5 - 2 we need wingers who are actually adapting to wingback. Not Fullback's playing as wingbacks.

There was so many things wrong with the team / formation last night I don't know where to start!

* Why did Carragher push out to the left back position when Cole should of been using that area / wing. This left Terry on his own alot

* Why play Neville on the right wing back when he isn't very good there yet we have SWP who could play there and has flare / pace

* Crouch and Rooney can't play together

* No pace what so ever

* Id liked to have seen Bent upfront with Rooney or even Defoe. Yes Crouch does had a superb goal record but he lacks pace and playing next to Rooney it just won't work.

I disagree, I think Crouch and Rooney can play together. It's our midfield that isn't giving them the service at the moment.

Neville is a fantastic right back and also very good coming forward. Plus have you seen his crossing?

Hmmmm I just don't think they have any pace amongst them and nobody makes a forward run as they both drop a little too deep!

As soo as Defoe came on we had a chance with a bit of his pace and a ball through the middle. Which we didn't see once before that.

Neville is a good right back yeah, wingback....? No

He just isn't up for the job sprinting down the wing and beating players. I feel this is SWP job!

I thought A Cole was poor aswell... he's been pretty crap for Chelsea aswell.

Not sure who Id drop... I would think about maybe Crouch upfront with Bent/Defoe with Rooney playing in the hole just behind.

Agree with most of that, we are missing someone like Owen who can just get their head down and sprint past players. I don't honestly think he will wear an England shirt again.

Rooney does like to come deep so Crouch and Bent with Rooney behind sounds good. How about....

---------------------Bent-------------
----------Crouch---------------------
----------------------Rooney--------

SWP--------Lampard-------Gerrard

Cole-----Terry----Ferdinand--Neville

The we have the likes of Joe Cole who can swap for SWP. Carrick for Lampard. Lennon for Gerrard. Or Gerrard could move into the middle and Lennon on the right.

Exactly right mate, thats exactly what I mean!

There are a few options you can have..

---Crouch---Bent / Defoe

---Rooney---

SWP---Lampard---Gerrard

Cole ---Terry---Rio---Neville

OR

---Crouch---Defoe/Bent

---Lampard---

J Cole---Gerrard---Lennon/SWP

Cole ---Terry---Rio---Neville

mmm, only problem i can see with this is if teams pack their midfield out. Could mean getting outnumbered in the middle and the likes of Defoe, Bent and Crouch aren't going to come back and help out to be fair.

Have seen a few clubs swamp the midfield with players to stop other teams playing through the middle. Hopefully this will mean the likes of Richardson, SWP and Lennon will get more of the ball and make an immediate impact on the game like they have been doing when coming on.

Because he offers alot more pace and flare on the wings which is what we lack!

so because he doesn't get into a star studded team at Chelsea you won't give him the opportunity to play for his country?

Even when every time he has come on he's made an immediate difference?

End of the day the lad is quite clearly a talent and deserves more minutes than what he is getting at the moment. He has played well (not brilliant, but well) whenever he has come on which is more than can be said about the likes of some England players at the moment.

Personally I don't think SWP is making any impact... Compare him to Lennon, say, and the on-pitch minutes tell a big story!!

Although Lennon and SWP have similarities they infact play very different.

Both players are great and one day will become regulars but they both offer different things

SWP:
Pace, flare, skill, decent cross

Lennon:
Pace & Flare

Until Lennon can perform a decent cross I would just pip SWP ahead.

both SWP's and Lennon's final ball are poor. This will only come with experience though.

Besides this isn't the main reason why we are playing shoot at the moment
