I like them aswell, if there nice and subtle. Couple of mates have them, and hear nothing but good things.

Guage on the left is water temp the one on the right is the oil temp

the water temp on mine aint been above the 1/4 and oil aint been above 1/2 even when caining it

Good points... very good handling, very quick
Bad points, gear box is like chocolate and lots of noises and rattles.

over 2/3's, under the max though, is that just normal?


it does that on mine, i do frequent 150 mile trips and it goes that high even when im not giving it some.
I beleive on a long run / hard drive it will go that high but no higher.

Im changing my gearbox oil soon, its not making noises but its best to do it - one of the major causes of the gearboxes to go in the 106's

is it the case that the engine in it already is probably the best base for any power you are going to get anyway?

180 is possible from tb's etc

the tu lump is the best na 1.6 16v engine going imo apart from the civic lump

The 1.6 TU engine is very good for modding, add a supercharged, turbo or TBs and 200bhp ATW is easily achevible even a simple set of cams, ramair filter and 4-2-1 manifold including decat can get you 160bhp (XE power) without ruining the brilliant handling
