what I am saying is this, if it is just a bolt on conversion with no other mods then the figures are a bit on the generous side. my opinion isnt based on n/a engines its based on engines in general. I understand turbo engines very well infact.
if its true and their bolt on kit produces a reiable 160bhp from an otherwise stock 1.2 then good on them, but the fact that these engines have tiny valves and tiny inlet ports very mild cams and their injector duty cycle would run out a long time before it managed 120bhp let alone 160........
if it does have cams, headwork, injectors.... then 160 is possible but we are currently assuming that it doesnt.

1.2 Corsa Turbo Conversion
The final development stages of these complete turbo kits have been fully completed with our German partners dbilas and have all been subjected to 5000+ mile autobahn road test.
Available NOW for almost every recent Vauxhall model...this kit is for the Z12XE engined cars.
Kits include all plumbing, intercooler, manifold, turbo, injectors, software...Absolutly everything you need to get the power you want!
(Power increases are dependant on state of tune prior to fitment of kit, however...you can expect a final figure of around 145 bhp!)

so they claim 145 bhp from the bolt-on kit depending on the prior state of tune.
round that off to a more realistic 125-130 bhp (after removing Regals famous overestimations) and you will have a far more reasonable figure.

dave if your knowledge of turbo engines is as good as you say, you will know its not an issue with tiny ports or mild cams.
the air is forced into the engine, 160bhp is nothing for std part really. is an uno or renualt 5 head any better than a std corsa head, with less valves? and the renault being deisnged (cant think the term) so that the engine isnt a cross flow yet they manage masses of bhp.
retard the timing enough for an n/a will be grand. i have faith. also the regal kit says 145bhp, is this more believable?

i personally do not think the figures are accurate, not arguiing with anyone thats just what i believe
its easy to get big power out of old small engines using forced unduction because you dont have the engine management problem to get round, and then you will have to uprate the internals
you wont get 200bhp out of a uno engine on std internals well not for very long anyway

sorry, that was a bit vauge.
if I told you that I could bolt a turbo conversion onto a 1.8 litre ecotech engine with NO OTHER INTERNAL MODS and just a bit of magic regal dust and it can make 20 bhp more power than a standard 240bhp astra vxr engine would you belive me?

if you mapped it properly, yes
just out of curiousity where in the post does it say its reliable?

no mapping, just a generic software upgrade

sorry, but if that corsa makes anything near 160bhp, ill eat my full f**kin snap-on toolbox with brown sauce!! would be very surprised. it would need alot of internal bottom end work, substantial cyl head work, with mahhosive cams, uprated timing chain (cos the standard vx ones are crap, note the recall for 15,000 corsa c's for the timing chain recall), engine management work (different ecu or stand alone etc), and then u can bolt on the dblias inlet + exhaust manifolds and the turbo and the intercooler. still dont think it would get anything like that, perhaps 130ish? although i aint never seen one of these conversions, just my opinion!

as said above, its not the cams and the head work or bottom end work
it will not need it

your point being?
phase 3 is a generic software upgrade, so is phase 4. they claim 315bhp and 370bhp for phase 4. most people seem to manage those figures and thats a generic map
modern ecu's on obd have plenty of adaption channels to adjust any timing or fuel needed

isnt the point that it wouldnt make 160bhp without these parts??? i know the magazine ads always say 'no internal modifications' but come on, can u really believe it?

my cars not just got a performance inlet and cams though does it.
loads of people have got around the same figure of 145-150bhp i just done a little bit more and got 161.
i think that putting a turbo that is increasing the performance that much on a standard 1.2 engine would cause loads of problems for the engine in a short period of time. i think it is do-able but must have a descent size turbo on it.
