Mate they need doing again to be blunt, sand it down with 400 then 600 then 800 give it around 3 layers of high build then 2 layers of grey. Sand it down with 600 then 800, then put your red paint on and make sure you cover everything in your coats and dont go too close with the paint and the layers you were doing looked a bit light to me, you can get more than that on in a layer do around 6 layers aswell. Once the paint is done i highly suggest laquer for the shine, so 800 it then laquer it about 5 times with nice layers.
Heres one i did about 3 weeks ago with only halfords cans and some graft.
Thats the first big thing ive ever done, other stuff ive done is only things like interior bits. Like i say dont be afraid to put plenty on in a coat.

Thanks for the tips. I might try it all again next wednesday when i'm off college. I'll fit them tomorrow though and see what it looks like.

wrighty guys done a beltin job on that bumper, u live near glasgow? lol
here is so pics of my 2nd attempt at sprayin an arch, first attempt arsed up coz i sprayed it the wrong colour, lol  unfortunately u can still see some dimple effect underneath which completely wastes it - what do you's think? gona get a quite course sanding sponge from work to get the dimples off coz doin it with the sand paper alone nearly broke my hand, lol

So here is the finished product. The frot arches will be put on at a later date, and the back one colour coded some other time as well.
So here it is. All those people saying it looked really bad I actually like it and think it looks good.

wet flat then polish, dont jump into laquering a colour which does not need it. Ill check on the halfords charts tomorrow but I know Iv never put ant laquer on mine.

i'd lacquar it too, looks a bit mat/flat, plus the lacquar will protect the paint, I never got round to lacquaring my front bumper and now it has cheery red stone chips etc all over.

No laquer on red?
Why not? Its just the same as any other colour.
IMO all colours need laquer.

its not teh fact of what colour it is weather it needs laquer or not, its what type of paint it is, direct gloss, basecoat etc.
looks gd for a beginner but least you had a go and thats how you will learn, if you really want at a later date u can have another go or just get it profesionally done but well done for trying!

i wouldnt bother mate tbh cos you wont flat and polish that up shiny, its just that it is to dry, and when they talk about flatting and polishing its normally flatting with 1500wet and then using a cutting compound to bring back the shine but in your case i cant really as it was never shiny to bring back the shine!
also flatting takes out any shit in the paint!

what i am saying is you may need to lacquer flame red when you use halfords celly tins but it was never lacquerd from the factory and it certainly doent need it when your using 2k,
Am also 99% when you read the cahrts in halfords it says you dont need lacquer though i will clarify this tomorrow

I was told at work, that its not the red paint that fades on a red car, its the laquer that fades, so i presumed red cars were laquerd aswell?

Its a good effort, and if your happy with it then its all good, reading through though I take into account everyones ideas and thoughts and when you have the budget give it another crack! and make it look pro!

checked in halfords on there charts today, it clearly says that flame red does NOT need lacquer took pics on my phone aswell.
