Go for the Gti, the 1.6 8v is a disappointment compared to 16v engine... esp when breathing mods are fitted.

Well no offence but are you fucking stupid? You were bored of the rallye ( i can only presume the performance ) and you want something more comfy ( so not stripped and maybe a few mod cons ) So getting another rallye or stripping a GTI is surely the most stupidist idea?

Have you thought about anything else than a 106?

Havent you been banned yet? Im not going to strip whatever I get, rallye ownership is more than just a quick car, you wouldnt know you dont get that with a GTI, and motorsport heritage is hardly your thing.

Its a hard shout, I see where your coming from. The engine in the GTI is better but its the look and the general feeling of rallye ownership which makes up for it. Its whether I can sacrifice the extra power for that.

I prefer the look of the Rallye.

Holes are betterer than fogs.

It does, but its what it says on the log book, and the little touches. I love rare cars, and the feeling is immense.

Agreed there Robin, I always said if I got a GTI id put grilles on it.

You forgot to mention the white steel wheels and colour coded bumper mouldings Rallye's have.

The Rallye turns more heads thanks to its white steelies.

Butler: If your torn between the two, a S2 16v is the only answer... the best of both worlds.

Its very easy to colour code the mouldings, my wifes old gti had it done

I have 205gti alloys in white on my gti and it looks a millions times better than the steelies IMO

Eck that GTI does have potential but maybe not enough, will cost enough getting it back to standard and the exterior gives me the impression it hasnt exactly been looked after so the chavness may extend to the internals.
