Left essex and headed over to the dark side of the dartford crossing to pick up this last night

Its a chip that fits into the ecu of a 1.6 16v. Its the one that is supplied by diablis if ordered with their inlet.

Popped it into the ecu and off we went

Think it feels a little bit smoother through the revs but the main difference is the new rev limit of 7800 rpm as you can really let the mantzel do its stuff without worrying about hitting the limiter

Just need to watch by fuel as I think it may be over fueling a little on the over run. Sounded nice in the dartford tunnel though

what cams are in it? standard cams start to run out of power way before 7800 rpm so the extra rpm may not be as beneficial as it feels.

even with throttle bodies standard cams struggle to get the power to climb much asfter 7300 rpm.

Yes dave im still running standard cams almost brought a set of 264's for it but I realised it was still burning a bit of oil so didnt want to splash out on any.
While your hear dave is there anyway you could suggest of testing my cylinder head to see if that is the cause of the oil burning as now its had new rings etc all things seem to point in that direction

Although even though the limiter is at 7800 I am still changing up just after where the old one cut in. Its just nice to be able to drive like that without the risk of catching it etc

felt like it pulled to about 7200rpm, that extra 500 or so rpm makes so much difference, wish my 1400 had that

Might want some ARP bolts in there if you haven't already I'd be very wary of revving like that for any length of time.

Managed to run a 16.5 at the pod today

Need to clean the engine bay now though as I had a bit of a blonde moment when topping up the oil

Get a set of 264's

Lee Mannings old Corsa GSi with a C16xe with a mantzel, shrick cams and a 7.5K rev limit ran low 15's and a 0-60 of 6.5 on a redline shoot out.

With a set of cams and a well set up car you will be in the 15's mate.

Almost brought a set of new kent 264's and diablis pullys from a guy off here but then we realised by car was still using oil so I called it off

If I can work out that its the cylinder head I may do something about it as its only done it since I brought this head

Broke out the hammer today seeing as I had the airbox out to clean the mess I made in the engine bay so I pulled some bits off of it before it went back in

Didn't like the look of these so they came off

Result

Not going to drill it as imo the bit taken off the bottom and the tubes removed will free it up enough if I get a K&N pannel or simular in there aswell. Didn't want holes as anywhere else that will improve the airflow further will risk heat soak. where the bit I have taken off is is above the wheel arch so away from the engine and heat

So I am going to try and aquire some air ducting to run a cold air feed to the bottom of the airbox aswell as getting a proper pannel filter. should be job done then

Now sounds like its got a sore throat when you put your foot down, not sure if I like it or not

Whats the best pannel filter to go for? Or are they all roughly the same
