i have thought about an xe as i would be able to keep the f28 and diff.
if i went with the other option i had thought about (x18xe1) i would have to find a f13 box and shafts again and then a LSD
the only thought i had about an xe was it being to front heavy for track etc

all the inside is now fillered and in primer, there was some rust in the spare wheel well, so that was removed, treated and primed aswel
the roll cage supports are now welded to the floor and sealed.
all masked up ready for painting which is now done but no pics yet.
fast as u can's golf masked up aswel so it doesnt get covered in overspray
.
whilst i was waiting for some nice weather to paint in i set about removing the rear beam to paint and remove some rust around the rear springs,
while it was off i thought about strengthening it and trying to keep it ridgid so i have plated the bottom of it with 2.5mm steel and stitch welded the joins etc
probably wont make a difference but it was free and kept me busy for half an hour

roll cage painted
pics of the x18xe1 engine fitted whic a few have already seen
this was done for a few reasons the main one being i bought a house and with all that money tied up in an engine it had to go.
not as quick but alot more practical and doesnt get hot after 15 minutes
since castle coombe in april it was evedent the car needed some more tweekes namely:
the rear brakes were locking up under heavy braking
the suspension kit was seriously worn out with the offside front coilover having no fluid left and the nearside starting to leak also the spring rates were also far too low.
the toyo T1Rs simply were good enough anymore
and the temporary rattle can spray job on the bonnet looked crap
the solution:
firstly was to sort the bonnet while the parts turned up for the rest of it
sanded down
primer flated
painted satin black
on the brakes i fitted two bias valves in the car to adjust the brake to the rear and stop it locking up
R888s in 195/50/15 medium compound
lastly and most recently is the new coilover kit delivered on tuesday
they are a highly tested version of the gaz GHA kit that have been tested and tweaked by corby motorsport and have had different valving a spring rates tried and tested to get a exact setup on different variables of car
old kit off the back and arches undersealed
rear coilovers fitted and drums painted
r888s fitted to dedicated track wheels and trial fitted
back on the floor
front solid adjustable top mounts fitted to front coilover
and top suspension turrent cut out to allow maximum castor using top mounts
