Least im under no illusion that my corsa isn't that great, and that the overall plan is to test what parts make it better, not what make it a great handling car, because it will never be a great handling car.

Well, actually, maybe, if I space frame the front and rear end with complete custom suspension.

And i'll leave my opinion at that, as peopel have different ones obviously.

You are right they dont handle great, but allot of conversions ive driven handle badly cos they are built badly or not set up correctly...

the extra weight can be catered for to a certain extent, but its still a corsa at the end of the day.

Tight, loose, sweeping, cambered.

Your car will make up a lot of time down straight, but yes you would suffer a lot on a track. But thats more about the power coming through the front wheels. Diff or no diff, that engine and those tyres will be working their asses off.

I'd actually like to see yours round a track. I've watched Mark Beesons go round the ring (Google) and although its insainly fast, listen to how many times it spins up exitting bends... On the road yeah its fine, but to make a FAST car on track, spinning is a serious no no, its all about balance.

Just like those NSX videos on AK's NSX post, it isn't all about power, its all about balance.

And while a insainly fast road car is great in a straight line (look at most american youtube car vids ) put them on a bend......

having an over powered car is ok imo, if the driver knows how to use it.

exactly, i think most people assume you cant hold the throttle round a corner etc, also daimo, yes it has tyres and a diff and they help a lot more than would be thought. i can turn tight corners in 3rd and apply full throttle exiting the corner and normally, depends on the surface mind, it doesnt spin up. its far from perfectly set up my car, but its easy enough to drive very quickly paced down most roads.

Track Attack is the best place to go see well overpowered cars going round a racetrack.

I reckon a less powered "track setup" car would still be on its ass though.

I.e, 700bhp Scooby, or 500bhp SuperGT (Japan touring cars basically, Supras, NSX's, 350Z etc) would absolutly kill it.

But a fast road car, and a fast track car are two totally differnt things. But the weight issue will remain constent between the two.

A good example, look at our BTCC and how much a car is effected during a race with only 40 kilos of ballast... Those cars have been designed to take possible weight additions and still remain competitive.

Now what if one of those cars took all its 40 kilos and stuck it over the front wheels and not balance in the car. Will it still handle as well?

dont get me wrong daimo, im not saying specifically they are a good handling car, im just saying theyre not as bad as most people make out. if you can drive the car well and have a decent set up, then its not going to be that bad. agree 100% about the in the wet comment though

I was part of a btcc team, but i had to drop out as its just too time consuming and i couldnt enjoy my own toys.

Corsas can be made good but it takes alot of knowlege and time and the right components.... as said above, they have a reputation for not handleing because noone ever builds one "properly"

Making a car track specific is ok if thats all you need it for, i use mine on the road and track cars just dont work on our bumpy crap roads.

On a btcc car, adding the ballast means a complete re-setup, from camber angle to corner weights..... even if you alter the ride hight, you have to pretty much start from scratch to be as good as possible.

Most people turn up to a track day and wind there koni's onto hard!

Theres some real peaches of C20LET converted corsas on here now.

I remember when there were none, and we were all waiting for XE's conversions to start coming about

Col whats the new engine going in? Any thoughts to change the manifold and tune straight away to save time/money? Or you happy to leave it standard/go ohase 2 and be happy with it?
