As have Manchester United of course, but they obviously have a recent history of winning the Premiership.
Yeah, United def look stronger this season
No, I do totally agree United are the team to beat, and their forward line looks , but it doesnt mean that if we improve the amount we score this season that we cant be up there.

Oh, and TBH we havent spent a huge amount this season....spent about £40-45m and brought in £20-25m in sales, which compared to a lot of teams this season isnt too bad.

It’s just that for the past 4 seasons alot of people have been anticipating a "Liverpool Challenge" however this tails off during the beginning of the last third of the season.
I can see this happening again if Benitez can't keep his squad happy due to his player rotation policy which i think is total pish.

Agreed.
Although I think Torres will turn out to be a great signing, his finish against the rent boys was superb.

Again this is where your wrong
We start shite, and end great. Season before last we actually had the best final 3rd of the season than anyone in the league. Last season we had a good final third until the last 6 or so games where we put the kids out to save the players for the CL semi's and final.
And rotation is either loved or hated, fact is though that Rafa has got results using it. Hopefully now the squad is better it will work out even more for us this season, as expecting 11 or 12 players to play 60+ games a season all to the best of their ability PLUS international games just wont happen.

Yeah, its great to have him in the Premiership. I hope he's loyal to the club if they can't win a "big" trophy in his first few seasons

And United best get used to rotation, or come the end of the season you'll have some very unhappy players wanting to leave!!

can decide to leave if he wishes, on a 6yr contract so will be a nice value attached to his head if he turns out a good signing.

"The striker, understood to have cost a club-record fee of £26.5m"
Taken from here - http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2118371,00.html
Wages on top of that, do you really think you'll get your money back?

He cost £21.5m, and then we sold them Garcia for £4m...seperate deal though so pick or choose if you want to say it was a player + cash deal.
Not saying we'll make money back, no interest in doing so as we arent a selling club, my point is that if he plays well then he'll hold his value atleast if he wanted to leave. If he doesnt play well and bombs then he wont be leaving as no one will want him.

Yeah it'd be a disaster for the club if here were to flop in the Premiership.
From the signs I’ve seen so far...he looks to have been a good buy.
I guess time will tell.
I think this year there is an elevated amount of pressure on Liverpool due to the signings they've made...more so then Man U or Chelsea because they've had recent successes in the Premiership.
We're all seen what pressure can do to a team who is pushing for a top 4 finish....look at Spurs for example. Now I’m not putting Liverpool in the same category as Spurs because they aren’t THAT shit, I’m just saying how pressure can affect a team's performance.
Even Man Utd's start has been shite due to the pressure of their signings.

Pressure on a team like Liverpool every season no matter what signings we make just due to our history. But over 38 games the pressure shouldnt show, its more likely to hit you in knockout games....which we've shown in the past to be excellent at.

TBH, United haven't played too badly, created lots of chances, just our finishing which has let us down.

I dont think Liverpool's history has anything to do with it TBH. Its just a barrier to hide behind these days. Football is driven by money as we all know. Now...back in the "History" of Liverpool, it wasnt so much.
The pressure now a days IS all about the money.
Jol will be out the door by the end of this season because he couldnt get his team to perform even though he spent £40m+, if Liverpool dont perform...i think the story could be quite the same...maybe not this season but the next.
