thing is, the police could never prove you were out of control of a vehicle due to smoking unless you crashed while smoking. there is no way driving while smoking is dangerous. hot ash, dropped tab, bollocks, people who smoke dont drop a tab. as for lighting a tab on the move, tab in mouth light with 1 hand 1 hand on the wheel. no more danger than changing a cd or searching for a radio station at all. infact, doing either of those is pobably more dangerous

basically, its pathetic. and those that say you agree, fuck off and get a life.

you cannot put across any argument to say smoking is in any way more dangerous than using an electric window switch, opperating your radio, opening your sunroof, infact opening a sunroof is far more dangerous. sunroofs should be banned. do you agree?

I can becuase I used to be a smoker and it did distract me when driving,

Saying you drop it between your legs?

I don't see how opening a sunroof is dangerous.

your had is off the wheel, and concetration is placed on turning that handle compared to driving the car. its equally as dangerous if not more so.

i know i shouldnt say it but ive smoked weed while driving for years. thats far worse, yet ive never caused any accidents or had any problems with concentration while driving. i drive for a living, and trust me, listening to music is more distacting than smoking while driving is.

Driving whilst under the influence of drugs is a fucking stupid idea if you ask me. As bad as drink driving.

i could guarantee im in more control of the car than the average 17 to 18 year olds on the road. if anything, weed doesnt affect your senses even remotely as much as alcohol does, so really, its nowhere near as bad as drink driving you may find. there have been studies and tests done.

from an EX smoker i dont see the point
next we will see smoking cameras beside the speed cameras

but i find the bigest distraction is kids in the back i got 2 toddlers and your forever talking and keeping them happy leaning behind the seat to get a juice bottle or toy thats been dropped

This is good news as far as i'm concerned.

I have always felt passionately that anyone who smokes at the wheel should be penalised to the full extent of the law.

Smoking while driving is dangerous and utterly contemptable.

Smoking raises your blood pressure.

The smoke itself can obviously obscure your vision.

Inducing or injesting any substance likely to affect your reactions or capacity to perform whilst driving a vehicle is ludicrous. You might aswell have a beer.

The potential to drop a lit fag in your lap is enough of a crash inducing potential to make smoking at the wheel illegal.

The very action of obtaining and lighting a cigarette whilst being in control of a vehicle is laughable as it renders you not in control of the afformentioned vehicle.

Easy. The controls on the stereo don't change or relocate. I can operate all the switches in my car without looking at them.

You're quite right though, I nearly crashed whilst changing a CD. Fucking 6 CD Changer, fancy putting it in the boot....

Incidentally, smoking in a car is just plain disgusting and it ruins the interior and leaves the windows very unpleasant too.

i agree 100% with joe, i dont think eating or drinking should be banned but if you ban one youve gotta ban the other

did you fail to read the bit where i said i dont agree that eating and drinking should be banned either?

i was saying that if you ban eating youve got to ban smoking.

no one makes much of a fuss about eating being banned though because they arent addicted to eating (unless you have a problem) and dont have to eat every 10mins

strangely I find it amusing that food is more of a necessity to people than smoking yet people feel there civil liberties are being more imposed on by banning a cigarette then eating food

You said "I don't think eating or drinking should be banned" but you think smoking should?

Drinking a hot coffee is just as dangerous as smoking a cigarette, if we're calling that dangerous.

I don't know anyone with a 144 a day smoking habit either

i said i think smoking should because eating and drinking is

if eating and drinking, mobiles etc were allowed and smoking not, i would say it was unfair

i dont think smoking causes anymore distraction then say drinking out of a bottle, i agree it cause more problems if you drop it etc, but i doubt that happens much.

But as drinking is deemed as a distraction needing a ban, i would say smoking does too
