How are the above cars superior? the clio, both golfs and the 206 aren't any quicker, so what the fuck are you talking about?

whitter, theyre all in the same league, they all compete in the same market, and yet theyre all a better car to drive than the civic.
as for the turbo remark, have yopu driven an mps, an astra vxr or a mk5 golf turbo? the lag isnt as apparant as the civic out of tec you may find.

no, your right, theyre about the same book speeds. yet all of those cars, as a daily car to drive are far better to live with. have you driven any of them moes tavern? if not, id suggest you do

I agree muppet new generation turbos have less lag and I never once stated they were not comperting against each other
but they are no way faster to the extent that you make out
Plus the Mazda and Golf are far more expensive
I have always said that I would not own one but that does not make it a bad car

ok we will agree to disagree on that

also i know the civic isnt a bad car, theyre just very very over rated. theyre not worthy of a type-r badge. other type-r's are far more superior to the last 2 models of the civic type-r.
why more people dont buy an accord type-r is beyond me. theyre crackin cars

theyre all aimed at a market of hot hatches. yet the civic isnt that hot is it? its average. it shouldnt be aimed in the same market as hot hatches. average 2 door cars, then yes, its leagues ahead.

but because its slightly faster does that make it better is my question (whether we agree they are faster or not)

I've driven the clio 182, the 206 and the Golf GTi, as for daily drive I have no idea as I've never owned any of them, though your original remark was that the civic is slower than the 'competition' which is patently not true for most of the cars you mentioned. For living with day to day I'd agree that the Astra or Golf R32 would be preferable, as they have much nicer interiors and the Turbo'd Astra gives you power without having to work it.

Plus the CTR made the other manufacturuers rethink about hot hatches
IMO it has done wonders for the hot hatch - as a result look at what you can go aout and buy because of its impact

what impact? no other manufacturer has decided against producing a car which has no torque and innevitably pathetic driveability below 6000rpm. anyone that says theyre not bad is day dreaming.

You really are an idiot
I did not once reference the VTEC engine only performance and price in general
Before the CTR there was no other car produced at such an affordable price brand new that did 6.6 to 60 and 16 to 100
Jesus VW were branding the golf with 115 2.0, 125 1.8 and 150 1.8T as a GTI
Now thats an issue - but you fail to mention this

over 10 years before that, an astra gte 16v was 7.1 to 60 and cheap.

uk spec ctr is 16.85 0-100 not 16.0 flat
slower than a focus rs, fiat coupe turbo, mini cooper s, clio 182, seat leon cupra
mazda 3 mps 0-100 in 14.5. thats a hot hatch for the money
