Our new website will be online in the next couple of weeks - where all of our products will be, with loads more information and images, so please bare with us for more photos etc.

Prices:

All prices depend on materials used, and the quanitity in which a part is purchased.

At the moment, we only have moulds ready to make the wings (prices where given at the start of this thread).

Bonnets are between £245 and £495, depending on specification ('road spec' - full replica or 'race spec' - reinforced outer skin) and on materials (fully fibreglass or fully carbon or any combination).

Prices for roof skins will be from £195 to £345, again depending on the materials used in the laminate (100% carbon is the most expensive option).

Tailgates will be priced the same as bonnets, but polycarb screens or glass are extras.

Typically group buys get 10% discount on 5 or more units, 15% on over 10 units (all of the same part).

Bonnets, wings, tailgates, bumpers and roof skins will all be made by us this year as a matter of course. We are currently concentrating more on VWs (don't hate me), but more interest and confirmed pre-orders for parts will put those parts higher up our job list.

Moulds for all of these bits cost alot of money, like £800+ for each mould - so we need quantity orders in order to guarantee a reasonably quick return on our investment.

If people need their carbon fibre products asap and can't wait for group buys or for us to make moulds anyway, we can take on one-offs if people are willing to cover moulding costs. In these cases, the mould still remains ours to use as we wish, after a certain grace period (in order to retain an element of exclusivity on those parts). If you want to commission a mould for your own purposes, which you can take away and use as your own, we can talk about it, but there are obviously margins to be added on top of the 'mould cost' itself.

I hope this answers a few questions in one go.

If people want to register their interest in any of these parts in the other 'group buy' forum set up by Beardy, that'd all help in getting these parts made sooner.

please call me if you have any specific enquiries or requests

cheers. Mike

Prices are:

Front door cards: £85 (per pair)
Rear Quarter trim cards: £70 (per pair)
Tailgate trim card: £40.
Postage (city-link, mainland uk exc highlands) £12.50

We can cut out the standard latch lever hole, but don't have a template with the electric window switch position - you'd have to cut this yourself, or send us a cardboard template of what/where you want it cut.

Most people rivet these on for ease, but I prefer 'rivnuts' which are rivets with threaded centres - you rivet these to the door, then bolt the door trims to the rivuts - nice and neat and easily removable.

Theres not normally any need for a rubber seal, but you could use sticky draft excluder foam on the back if you get any unwanted vibrations (not generally a problem though).

We normally make these and send them out within 10 days, but can do quicker turn-arounds if you have a tight deadline to meet.

Please call me on 07717418174 if you'd like to order over the phone, or email sales@performance-trim.com or u2u if you have any more questions.

cheers, Mike

I don't know what laminate schedule they are using but full carbon ones should/could be upto 5 times lighter than standard steel ones for the same levels of strength.

I would suspect however that they will be between 1/3 and 1/2 the weight of a steel oe panel.

Glass with single lay carbon will probably be between 1/2 and 3/4 of the steel oe panel

LiVe LeE is right with this too - it depends on what you specify. The 100% carbon wings would be less than half the weight than OEM steel, while the glass/carbon hybrid would be 1/2 to 3/4 the weight.

If weight loss is really your intention (drag racers etc), then let us know when ordering so we can make a thinner/lighter/less stiff laminate. If you don't mind what they weigh, or if you want a tougher part for rallying etc we can make the part thicker/heavier/stiffer. TBH, most people are purely in it for the look and weight savings are an added benefit - but we are aiming at the performance market so we consider weight savings equally as important as aesthetics.
