I do agree though, as mentioned above about needing to change too much to fit Beckham in - but I also think we need to drill the defensive role into Walcott and fast, before we start playing better sides as that flank is wide open at the moment.

Agreed, I think thats partly Wengers fault I suspect as hes grooming him more to be a striker thana winger FT so I guess the defensive side is less important, as I said previosuly though, you cant just blame Walcott for their (admittedly brilliant) goal, Brown should ahve been ther ebut he was pulled over into the centre by the gap left by Rio and Upson, presumably to cover for a lack of Bridge/Gerrard/whoever was on the left

No I dont blame him for the goal, as a lot of other factors before then that should have stopped it getting that far - but were lots of other times where they just strolled down both flanks (the left because Capello insists on playing Gerrard there so he can come inside).

Yeah definately, Gerrard is fine to have a floating left side role int he atatckign sense but what is he suppsoed to do when other teams break and hes still in in middle of the park in their end... leaves the flanks exposed as u say and better teams will find us out in that area! one area that needs workign on... another area is a goalie, i m sure james is probs still the best we have but hes still very error prone and stil llooks dodgy when left one on one and hes just not the future really, maybes time in the friendlis to gte the joe harts and scott carsons in there and see how they are, carson seems better now hes settled a bit... not sure about kirkland green and co mind

Kirkland wouldnt finish the 90mins!!

Agreed though - still think the best English player should have the team built around him though (yes - Gerrard!) rather than him having to be forced to adapt his play.

You wouldnt see Brazil or Portugal moving Kaka or Greasy twat about the pitch just to fit them in.

I think Gerrard would play better, if he could play like he does for liverpool. With Lamps in the team that cant happen as they both play like that for the clubs. But with someone like Barry next to him in mid he would be able to play like that.

I would also like to see Ashley Young given a chance on the left wing.

As for the goalkeeping problem. James never playes that well for England, I think Green or Hart should have a chance.

tbh

my current team would probly look something like this

James

Brown () Rio Terry () A. Cole ()

Walcott Gerrard Hargreaves J. Cole

Rooney Heskey

Want Micah Richards to make the step up but since hes ruled out being a RB hes kinda fooked himself! Good one for the future though and good cover alreayd with Woodgate etc.

Leavign Lampard out is hard cos he has been so good for England recently BUT I still think Gerrard in a proper midfield would be so much better

James/Heskey not ideal and I'd be lookign to get Hart in ASAP for some chances... Heskey, well hes not gonna bag a load of goals but jes doing a fantatsic job for Rooney and allowign Rooney to finally realise his potential for us

Once Foster breaks into the Utd first team he'll be number 1. Not Hart. I like Hart but I don't think he's as good as Foster.

You've got to question though why Foster isnt pushing VDS all the way for the no 1 spot given how good he is/will be.

He always seems to be injured at the moment.

VDS has still got it too. He's definitely fading though.

Almost a contradiction there by me, but I meant the VDS clock is ticking.

Fosters just come from injury and played the full 90 minutes in the reserves win over Oldham on Tuesday.

Hes behin Kuzaczk in the pecking order so if anyone is going to de throne VDS its him.

Same as ROBBO for me

Yeah Foster was awsome at watford hopefully he will be an England Number 1 for many years to come as james is getting on abit now, and we need to plan for major tourments and actually win something!!

Heskey upfront is really making the best of rooney but agan hes 31 i think, so maybe only 1 big tourment left in him! whos to step up?
i like Dean Asthon but no1 else agrees with me in the pub or work! but i think him and rooney would be good

Agreed, once he's fit he'll be pushing VDS for a start. Tommy K will only ever be number 2 at United, I don't think there is any intention for him to be no1.

Foster is a good keeper, from what ive seen of him

But he is the number 3 keeper at United. He needs to leave to stand any chance of getting into the England team
