You are making a meal of this aren't you he's probably bringing alonso on as someone to control the game a little from the middle of the park as he wasn't expecting such a bad show from some of his fringe players.

I'm honestly not, if he doesn't care about the cup by playing such poor players, i dont see why bringing some on who could be rested for a meaningful game at the weekend would help, if they come back and win, they'll have to play another game in this comp

That may be a blessing in disguise for spurs, because if he's out for a while, cesar may cement his place

Shocking that really.

Torres either didnt look fit, or he just didnt want to play in that game.
Degen and Dossena are just not good enough to even be second string full backs for us.
Hyypia, as amazing as he has been for us, just cant cut it anymore at this level.
Lucas was shocking in the middle of the park.
Ngog didnt win a ball upfront all game.

Only El Zhar looked decent when he was put further forward in the second half. And Babel looked dangerous when on the ball, but he shouldnt be out on the wing. Agger played OK too, as did Plessis at times.

Just glad that was the carling cup (or whatever is is these days) instead of the league.

Those two in particular aren't meeting the expectations they had when they arrived, i think lucas is not good enough either tbh

Chelsea in extra time, it's almost certain they'll get a deflected goal or win on pens

TBH Degen was on a free and was only brought in as cover as Finnan was leaving. Dossena on the other hand we paid good money for ad has been shocking at best, the only good part of his game is his crossing but he doesnt get forward even nearly enough to make the most of it.

Lucas is hit or miss for me. He obviously has something to be u20 Brazil captain, Golden boot winner (best player, not top scorer) in Brazilian league and full international - but with Gerrard, Masch and Alonso he cant be given the time to play in his favoured position.
