Even if Torres does fuck all for 89minutes he is fully capable of popping up and knocking a goal or two in - see the Chavski match for evidence of this.

The Keane situation was fairly obvious - Rafa wanted him but not for some stupid amount and at the expense of other targets, but Parry went and spent stupid money on him and left Rafa with going for second rate targets for more pressing positions (i.e. wingers). Keane came and had to try to force Gerrard into a more central role so he could get a game, but with Alonsos great form this season it made it next to impossible to do - he got a decent run of games though given Torres's injury, and did very little to nothing a lot of the time. Now Torres was back Keane was only going to spend more time on the bench, and with the constant media coverage starting to get at the team and with Spurs willing to offer stupid money back to us (something we wouldnt of got if we had waited until the summer) we took the chance to move him on a settle the ship.

Its nice and easy to look now and say he would of been the answer yesterday, but Id argue that given how he played the rest of the season for us he wouldnt of made a blind bit of difference.

Went to the Forest game last night.

What the fuck!

But when you have 9 first team players out what else do you expect.

cant say im too fussed about being out, united would have beat us and they are gonna beat derby. QPR on saturday is more important and Derby in a few weeks.

COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as u explained about torres, keane was similar, might do nothing for 2 games then have a screamer!

all iam saying is its look like liverpool didnt have any idea's? if u understand my thinking!

just think i would of kept hold atleast till some1 else was coming in! otherwise its gona be a thropy less season for liverpool

The problem is he didnt want to be sitting on the bench, and thats all he was ever going to do when both Torres and Gerrard are about - and although its easy to say well Gerrard is injured now, he wasnt exactly happy to be sticking about and waiting for an injury to happen.

If rumours are to be believed he was very active in pursuing a move back to Spurs, he could of very easily said no and stuck and fought for his chance, but he ran back to Spurs.

This just adds to the age old debate of strength in depth. Its all very well having a couple of star players but when the rest of your squad is made up of squad players the cracks begin to show. Now if Liverpool had strength in depth then maybe the players that came in for their star "duo" would have kept things ticking over and breezed past Everton. Should they get serious injuries to these two their title hopes will be well and truely over.

Had they kept hold of Keane however...

One flaw in your argument though Marc - those squad players beat United without Torres and Gerrard

In 6 months he didnt make it twice, and thats a reason to leave your 'boyhood' club. IMO its not being able to handle the pressure of a massive price tag and being unwilling to play for his place with the likes of Gerrard and Torres.

The pressure was justified as he isn't worth £20million.

OK, I point you in the direction of pre-xmas where we were missing Torres for about 905 of the games, and Gerrard for a good few of them - we were top of the league during this time.

Keane was a small fish in a big pond at Anfield... at Spurs he is a big fish in a smal pond.

He obviously didnt think he could get anywhere near the 1st team regulary otherwise why would he leave?

It looked to me like Liverpool wanted results immediately, based on how well Torres is doing for you. Keane is a proven goalscorer at club and country level and I don't think he was given enough time to show his top form.

He might be back to being a big fish in a small pond but he'll still be playing against the same opposition as Liverpool week in week out banging in the goals for Spurs.

Yeah but Spurs will change the play to suit him, at Liverpool he would of had to change his play to fit into the team as he isnt the star player anymore.

And you contradicted your own point - we wanted results immediately because he was a proven goalscorer in this league!

Banging them in for a mid table (normally) side with no pressure on him at all...

Some players can't handle playing under pressure...

Much like when you see the likes of Mido, Santa Cruz, Bent, etc. all banging them in for lower clubs but when that sort of player moves up they cant replicate the form even with better service being provided.

Kind of yeah, but Berbatov has taken time to settle in and he's probably not at his best yet.

Torres is a natural theres no doubting that. Keane would have taken time to build a parnership and bond with the other players.

So why did he fuck off then?

Torres is back now, as was Gerrard, so he wasnt getting the chance. If he knew he was still in the 'transition' of being at a new club then why not wait until the end of a season instead of running back to Spurs?

He started 16, came on in 3 others (purely league games). No idea how many he was subbed for but if he was playing well then he wouldnt of come off!
