thought id make a start on extending the wiring loom on the front end, it originally ran down the inner of the chassis leg, but now because of the space frame im running it around the side. ill let pics do the talking(need to sort my heat gun out to shrink the heat wrap then i can re-wrap the loom with the outer casing.
should have it finished off weekend, got few jobs on thats all.
i then picked up a boot and pair of doors off robbie on here, that was fun fitting it in my polo, looked like a granny hugging the steering wheel, but ahwel got them back to the unit and started to gut the doors. again pics will show how much ive took out. ive still got more holes to cut in the boot and also do along the door edges and tidy up where ive cut the inner skins out.
i drilled out the spotwelds for the impact bar brackets too, the spot weld dril ive got is an absolute beast, took about 15mins to do both doors...i did crap it though on the first door thinking that i was going to drill through the outer skin though, but all good.
new purchase too....pedal box
next up was to sort the steering out. i need to make it so if needs be i can remove the coloumn or steering rod. and the original group 4 steering coupling i had had a bar welded to one side, but had to be cut to take colounm out to weld fire wall. so i ordered a new group 4 steering coupling and an escort steering rod.
after some fucking about and thought i decided that i would cut the steering rod in 2, drill and tape either end and do the same with the extension piece and screw it together before wleding(still need to do when back in work weeked)
but to make the steering rod fit the vaux knuckle i actually chopped the UJ for the splined piece off of the old coupling...pics will expalin alot better:
will get some pics of it welded up, i got my mate to mig it as i held it....bastard hot rocks off of it! haha
ive also got my poly carb windows so will have to get a pic, sorted a fibreglass bonnet off fennyLET hopefully just need to sort picking it up. and ive also decided im taking the roof skin off and putting a non sunroof skin on instead.

did abit more past 2 nights, decided i didnt want a sunroof, so thought fuck it take the skin off so here it is:
decided to make life easier id cut the sunroof out to start(give you a bit to play with with roof when taking it off too, and so i could gain easier access to the braces.
drilling spot welds, wnet though on 4 or 5 on whole roff so not a bad effort
then cleaned up window sealant along front seam
same again drilled spot welds and split join.
cabriolet anyone?
carefully split the sealant from the centre braces off the roof:
peeled back abit more
then cleaned the rear off to get roofskin off and heres finished item..so far:
need to clean landing edges now and straighten them up, and source either a decnet 2nd hand non sunroof skin or see how cheap i can get a new one for.
also mate wleded up fuel filler in the 1/4 panel too:

Best project i think i've ever seen on here.
I really hope this gets finished.
Get it to a proffessional racing team, or suspension specialists to get setup and I think this car could be really really fast on track!!
Great project, hats off.
I also hate you through jealousy of not being able to do anything like this myself
