I wouldn't want to own 1 of those dogs only having a small house. We had a samoyed many years ago, they were sled pulling dogs and the thing was so distructive from sheer boredom that it would have never coped in a small house.

Poor dog imo, even my chinchillas have a gigantic cage and get let out every day to run around the house for exercise and they are only small rodents.... Dogs to me are family animals that require loving, attention and good care and plenty of exercise. I fear you will be creating a thread titled My dog is ill or My dog is violent or My dog had trashed the place very soooon.

Fair enough, im sure she loves the dog but i cant agree with shutting a dog in a cage. Dogs can be trained, all it takes is time and patience and from what i have read in this thread, doesnt appear to be the case. She has quite clearly said the dog doesnt need space which imo is a complete joke.

Also the bandwagon drove right on past me, mearly sharing my opinion. Couldnt give a shit about what others think i can think for myself

does anyone have or had a husky dog?

we had one called benji when i was younger, he loved sleeping in cages.

from birth you are advised to let them sleep in cages as its something to do with their heritage that they want to feel enclosed whilst sleeping, almost like a baby being swaddled. its a comfort thing for them.

with benji, the cage didnt have a door on, so he could wander in when he wanted too. he always slept in there, of his own accord.

i can see why other people like john say its wrong, to some extent i agree, but with huskys, its how they behave.

weird ass dogs tbh

I have a teeny little Westie and one of the biggest cages available. He goes in at night with the cage door open purely because he point blank refuses to sleep elsewhere. When he gets sleepy at night, that is where he goes and he cries if he can't get in.

I can't speak for what big dogs are like in a crate because I've never had a big dog!

I'm also not on any bandwagon, big dogs just shouldn't live in small houses full stop, would be the same for anybody who said it.

If for some reason you have a cage there and the dog chooses to sleep in it, even with the door open, there's obviously nothing wrong with that.

well im guessing that over 500 members of an husky forum have got unloved, ill and agresive dogs then now if a husky was like any other dog which it isnt ( apart from mals ect) then i would prob argee and wouldnt cage them, i have had dogs before that havend been crated, but as they are huskies they like to feel safe and secure and have a place of there own, this place is there crate and throughout the day they will go and get in there themselves for a kip

There's also no chance they husky would miss a cage if it never had one, it would feel safe somewhere else.

Every dog is exactly the same, they have somewhere they feel safe, normally the their bed.

None of our dogs ever had a cage. Not even the Dobermann. And they've all been perfectly fine.

Oh well, actually, look at the distress here:

Maybe they should be locked up overnight.

A spike, or a roaring fire also serve as fine dog storage.

Isit really a big issue how he brings up his dogs? Its like children everyone brings them up differently, if the dog doesnt have a problem with the cage then why shouldnt it sleep in the cage?
