Good job we have all that strength in depth and a good young squad then isn't it!!!

2 year transfer ban wouldn't affect us nearly as bad as Chavski as we have quite a few good players in the reserves and coming in to the squad.

Bit of a bummer though

Are you joking?

IMO you'd be much more effected by it. Although Chavski will have an ageing squad they'll still be, more or less, of top quality.

You'd be having to bank on most of the youngsters becoming top class players, and given the average across world football maybe only 2 would end up doing so, if that.

Well I didn't want to do this:

Ben Foster - Already proving himself, if a little nervous
Tom Heaton - Looks pretty comfortable when I've seen him
Ben Amos
Fabio - Can play at highest level
Rafael - Same as above
De Laet - Laugh all you want, the guy is pretty quick down the wing
Johny Evans - Already a regular
Cathcart
Simpson - Decent rightback
Possebon
Anderson - Starting to find the back of the net now
Nani - Can usually play well when hes not goofing up
Fletcher is only 25, usually pisses all over Arsenal
Tosic - Looked good in CC
Ljajic - Due back Jan
Welbeck - Already shown what he can do
Macheda - Likewise
Obertan - From what I've seen hes stupidly fast

Then theres

Evra 28 years old
Vidic 27 years old
Hargreaves 28 years old (Granted he will be in operating room)
Rooney - Still only 23
Berbatov 28 years old

I'd say we would be in a better position than Chelsea.

Now if you argued about Liverpool, Arsenal etc I could possbily see your point.

Marc, you've listed them like they are all going to come through and be good enough to play week in week out for a PL chasing side....at best 2 or 3 of them will turn out good enough.

I'd just like to say there is no way Berbatov is 28. He must be about 30 surely. Infact google time.

I was trying to point out that we have a lot more going for us than Chelsea, should we both not be able to make any transfers until 2011.

But you've listed a loaded of kids who could go either way, and a load of slightly older players who have shown they arent good enough (Nani!).

All teams have good youngsters coming through (Chelsea, us, you, Arsenal if they get over the abuse) but even though they all look promising now even any of them making it to a decent enough level to play week in week out for a top side is slim.

Even so, I reckon United would be able to put a better team together than Chelsea, which was the point I was trying to make.

Yay another club hate Chavski

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/sep/05/chelsea-legal-threat-alleged-player-poaching

I wonder if Arsenal fans are feeling a little happier than the spotlight is off their cheating....at least until they play next and do it again.

United actually had a deal struck with Fluminese for about 1 year for the Da Silva brothers. They had to wait until they were 18 to sign.
However they did poach Petrucci, Macheda, Pique etc.

*Tries to stop hands!*

I agree with Cosmo. You only have to look at Chelseas midfield to see how strong the team is. They have so much creative flair it is untrue and dont forget that Cole is due to come back. People will go on about Lampard 'getting on' but he plays 40/50 games a season.

What do United have? Scholes who is still top at that level but can only be used sporadically, Giggs who unlike Lampard is again showing his age. Then some Wigan reject and a few rough diamonds?
