I think the rewind thing is a good idea personally, can't see myself using it much but it's there if you want it, less frustrating than having to restart the whole race if you fuck up a corner I suppose.
There aren't any gearshift animations in the game, it was a conscious decision not to have them for some reason.

I thought the gear shift thing was a bit strange considering how much they have been banging on about cockpit view.

Thats exactly my point, look at shift for example you can actually see your feet move onto the brake and the clutch etc and you can actually see gear change. I hope they improve the cockpit view as tbh its pretty shit. There's a better cockpit view in bloody test drive!

i use the bonnet view. i did use the view where the clocks were in the centre of the screne on forza 2 but they dont have that now

As said the cockpit view, whilst pretty cool, is shite. Im loving the complexity of having to use the clutch with the manual now, difficult with a controller though, all the more reason to get my arse in gear and get a steering wheel/pedals combo (do they come with 3 pedals or just 2?)

Oh shit I didn't notice that, no clocks in the middle of the screen, they are on the right now.
Even though the game is good I kind of agree with Fireviper, there is something not quite right about it which I'm not sure about.
The cockpit view is very arcadie, I just hope the real game is good.
It will be a real test for me when I play R1 cars on Nurburgring and see if I can match my time around there from Forza 2.

Yeh I like that...
I used to hate the 10 lapper races or whatever, doing 9 laps perfectly fine - getting bored and stacking it when trying to drift or something and then getting over taken on the last lap because my cars heavily damaged!

I used the rewind function last night, very good and very simple to use, just means its going to be much easier to get faster lap times now as when you mess up a certain corner you can rewind and do it again to find a better line.

There will be a mass rush to set the fastest times, then people will realise to use the rewind function for each corner until they are the fastest around each track.
Unless there is a way to disable it if you use the rewind function on your fastest lap it won't count.

Does a rewind function not take a massive level of difficulty out of the game?
We all know how frustrating it is to lose at the end of a long race but that's part of the game, a rewind function is a bit homosexual.
If GT5 announced they had that I can imagine the abuse.

Yea im not too impresses at the rewind thing, its a cool feature, but you need more willpower than stopping smoking and heroine at the same time to not use it

rewind seems a novice thing. to say its good perhaps youi need to practise more. i think its stupid. means no matter what you do you can just go and re do it right away. thats no fun, its same as cheating.

Rewinded laps don't count on any leaderboards though, well they do but the fastest rewind lap is put below the slowest clean lap.
