Just try and book an appointment with your doctor. If every person that calls them gets told to go to a&e and does then there wouldnt be any time for the docs to see genuine problems.

Who on earth are they employing at NHS Direct?! I know with NHS 24, if someone calls in with any form of chest pain whatsoever, they send an ambulance as a precaution. But if they are advising people to go to A&E for a rash They can't have any medical experience at all?

They don't they're just call centre staff following a script and inputting answers in a computer. It's not a great service for medical problems but if it stops people calling 999 when their cat has a cough then I'm all for it
