i got 14.6 in a std 20xe corsa. no mods.
Not all XE'd Corsas are the same speed. Depends on the shell you used for the conversion, some are heavier than others.
theres not that much of a difference
200kg (give or take) in some cases.

From the experience i had with the redtop, i pulled away from it on the line through 1st and 2nd but 3rd is where its extra rev range beat me cause i had to change to 4th earlier where as the redtop had the extra give but it stuck with it till about 100-110 then the redtop kept going.

I would be very intrigued to know how much difference there is in weight as well as the difference off the line.
Weight + lower gear ratios must amount to something?

If you put the same c20xe in a corsa and then in a tigra; the tigra will be faster. the tigra is more streamline.

I was comparing a redtop in a light shell vs a redtop in a heavy shell.
1.8 would lose either way.

That has to be buggered. The XE has more torque (including lower in the rev range) and more power. Std vs Std, same sort of weight, both decent drivers, the XE will leave it constantly.

Not totaly true ive had a redtop corsa and a redtop tigra and the tigra got the engine out the corsa when it failed an mot and there wasnt any big difference.

The tigra "should" have more top end than the corsa.
I had a corsa c20xe and my neighbour had a calibra c20xe.
Down the motorway, it's a decline and i could whallop him until i'd hit the limiter in 5th but coming back up (incline) i couldn't pull past 120mph and he would beat me
Mine was a lightweight GSi shell, Early XE engine with Exhaust, Decat and Air Filter.

take the stats for example of the std engine in the std car. a vectra. x18xe1 is a lot slower than an x20xev 0-60, top speed etc etc. now a cavalier isnt much difference in weight to a vectra and yet the 20xe is a lot quicker than the x20xev.
now put the same engine that was faster into a smaller car, why would the lower powered one be quicker to 60?
your experiences with a 20xe must be an old knackered one. as a good engine is a cracker in a corsa.

1.0<1.2<1.4<1.6<1.8<2.0
best way to describe a 1.8
faster than a 1.6 but slower than a 2.0
id amgen though, a 1.8 will be on par with a x20xev

1.8 = Quicker of line
2.0 = More Top End
what you prefer; is the answer.
why would it be quicker off the line
F13 box; works wonders against redtops.
ok

now bear in mind that there is less power, and less torque to begin with. the f13 isnt going to improve the acceleration enough to over come the lack of torque and bhp. also, remember that the 20xe HAS the torque and power to use that box perfectly well and is an excellent combination.

1.2 Breeze shell Vs 1.6 sport shell.
You do the maths.
I'll admit that 200 is a bit exaggerated though.

basically, the conclusion is the 1800 isnt particularly fast. a shade faster than a 1.6
the end.

Is that why anyone who said the 1.8 is faster couldn't make it to the strip that day?
