i couldnt help myself but order a new header tank just look at the state of the old one!

new pipes and cap

new vs old

after removing the oil, oilfilter and exhaust manifold,

I removed the plastic water way pipe and changed all the coolant pipes ready for refitting!

new pipes

one of the pipes had me confused. bit of a cowboy job spotted

what it shouldnt look like to what it should look like

all fitted and ready

removed the water pipe from the back of the head and installed the new one that runs to the heater matrix and throttle body.

wanted to see how the new tank would look

so on wednesday i got to putting together my suspention finally

started laying everything out so i new a ruff idea from were to start

checked the bump to see how it fitted on

fitted the cover checking for clearance

i used a fixed spring compressor so i didnt scratch the fuck out of the springs

placed the spring inside and compressed the spring then fitted the boot inside as it was the best way i could do it off the damper.

the rubber spring top and top bearing went on after the bump stop and cover with the base spacer and top mount on after that. finally the top cap went on and fitted the nut hand tight then torqued it down. end result was this

released it out of the spring compressor and started the other side

then boxed them up ready to go home to be fitted on the weekend

right had a day off and just got on with it!!!!

first off was the anti roll bar

i fitted up the shocks just to see how solid it now is and its stiff and solid

brought the corsa out of the garage to do the work using the engine crane plonked it on some stands!

i unbolted the tie bars after the anti roll bar and moved them right out the way

got the engine ready to be dropped

down we go and out

so happy its out! just before it pissed it down now the work begins ......

the main problem when i got the car was the aux belt wasnt fitted right. i ordered a brand new tentioner and belt for it but it wouldnt fit into the engine mount. got hold of an old GM tentioner and a uk engine mount as mine is an import.

both of the mounts (spot the difference)

the one i took off

see the problem with not fitting!!!!

with everything working out all it needs is a clean and refit

fitted to engine to check everything lines up!!!

here's what the old plastic one looked like and yet again very happy
