how does a diesel Astra cdti150 become almost as quick as a Vxr that has nigh on 100bhp more in the same shell?

With a remap or a tuning box thats how and with 350ltft.

Standard 1.9 wouldnt touch a vxr tho.

Mine will stay with Golf GTis and to a certain extent in the right conditions Focus St`s the torque really shows in the lower gears, once the speed builds though the old smokers struggle

Ive had a propper race from 20 - 120ish with a Corsa VXR and was dead level, I mean nothing in it for about a mile I imagine the Astras to be much quicker

mapped astra would be quicker than a standard corsa vxr

the corsa sri turbo (150bhp) i mapped keeps up with standard vxr's) and thats putting 220bhp out

get over 200bhp-280bhp, there never much in it,

they had mine at 195bhp and 350ftlbs on the RR but the smoke was too much and they said the clutch wouldnt last the drive home

do these astras have a strong clutch, I think mine shares the gearbox with these, do they use the M32?

Well mines done almost 96k and is still on original gearbox and clutch, yes M32 box.

Though many 1.9 owners have had new gearboxes running standard power

Depends how you drive it and how you use all that torque!

alot better than TD's

matt, yeh run the same gearbox i guess, vauxhall is a m32 6 speed box, piece of piss to fit a quaiffe diff

the maps we do, torque is limiter in the map, it can be pushed more, but there a safe limit, the map matt has (mattsxi) is 205bhp with 310lbft, anymore torque the clutch and gearbox wont last....

it can be pushed more, but then things can start going wrong, im sure matt will agree very smooth progressive yet powerful map,

be interesting to see against a real 888, as iv driven 2 and i dont think there as anywhere near as quick

All well and good saying remap this, box that, but you can't use the power in the lower gears all the time as the torque will soon eat the gearbox/clutch etc. In fact a lot of people say don't plant your foot in 1st or 2nd at all and to only open it up in 3rd. This makes it a car you can only put your foot down in every so often and only when its running out of puff anyway and even then its in the back of your mind all the time, unless your within the warrenty period
