bit of both I think. I do believe that the writers created plot lines that they would never be able to fully answer as each answer would lead to another question etc. Perhaps they used aspects just for shock factor and I dont think they expected the mythology of the Island to be so popular and interesting for the viewers as in the end it came down to the characters.

so perhaps on one hand bad writing but this may be seen as genius by some and on the other hand it leaves things open for different interpretation by viewers which to me isnt a bad thing.

The backdrop they put in place i.e. the island, is pretty much immaterial to the character base of the show. They just made it that intruiging people watching it became more interested in the science fiction factor than what happened to the main characters.

Stripping all the purgatory, coming to grips with their problems in the staging zone before moving on etc etc etc it will get people talking and thinking even though it's finished and that's what it's done better than any show I've ever watched personally.

they weren't dead on the island.
they were only dead in the last series sideways-purgatory-world.

I think the show would have been a lot better if they'd been dead in the flashbacks all along, but alas, this wasn't the case.

All the dead bodies in the place with the light was interesting, and the place itself. I'd like to know what all the holes were and stuff. I'll get a screenshot....

i thought they were dead all along? I thought thats what it was suggesting? Plane crash actually killed them then it took 6 years for them all to come to terms and move on? Either way, really enjoyed watching it the last 5 years.

yeah, the ones that left and both hurley and ben are still alive.

but Christian Shephard explained why they were in the church. He said to Jack that some died before you and some died many years later.

interesting answer on the childbirth issue:

Aaron was conceive off island and born on island. Ji Yeon was conceived on island and born off island. This is why they were safe. As for the rest in Dharma days -

women cannot have babies because of the energy surges caused by the incident. They all die right around the time that the part of the brain develops that scientists believe is the source of consciousness. These surges are controlled by keying the sequence in the hatch. It serves as pressure release mechanism. The imbalance of the energy, overloads the brains of the developing babies, killing them and their mothers.

its obviously flawed to nerds and geeks. but to a casual tv watcher like myself, it has been a good programme.

That video is so far from cool it isn't even true. And the answer to all his questions is......to create interest.

I was disappointed with the final episode. They did what they've done all along and create more questions than answers.
