I'm not agreeing with the fading away comment, I'm not sure he should have publically dismissed it, but he was right in saying that a lot of people don't understand.

You're missing my point again, i'm saying is it down to the man who was appointed as CEO (or whatever) by the people who the fans are protesting about to tell the fans that their protest isn't valid/supported/whatever, can't you see the irony in that?

I'm not saying all is rosey ay United, we still have the debt and disgruntled fans, but since they took over the club has continued as before and players have been signed. This season was a washout, but we still got a trophy.
We lost Ronaldo, was always going to happen, but you guys losing Gerrard would be like us losing Rooney now.
Only a matter of time given your finances that this starts happening to you.
Your growth is at an end, in fact your revenues from activities other than player sales dropped dramatically at last set of accounts, so how long can you go rolling the debt up and up as you cant pay it before things go tits up?
And just fyi, nothing is happening shitty to us due to debt, its due to shitty owners who are trying to bleed what they can out of the club.

Does anyone think given all the hype of Rafa being given the option of severence, he ends up staying and the meetings will be about something else?

TBH all this came from one single article which was in the Times.
SSN and BBC picked up on it and ran with it, then all the other papers did - so it could easily be a none story.

Meant to answer this before...
They loaned £280m to purchase the club and cover the debt (£220m total) plus provide £60m in working capital and to start the redesign of the new stadium.
They they refinanced for £350m, this was to cover the previous £280m, cover the interests and charges for that previous loan (think it was around £20-30m) and then the rest was to begin the first phase of the stadium - that amount should not of been used (or not much of it given no stadium started getting built!).
Last accounts showed the club have spent close to £45m on the new stadium design - lots of theories going around that G&H have filtered money out of the club as the redesign has not cost this much. The rest of the debt increase is due to rolling up the interest and charges of refinancing.
We really havent spent much in the last 3 years on transfers, not net anyway which is what would increase the debts.

Apparently Fergie, Redknapp, Ancelotti, and Wenger have chipped in and offered Rafa £8m to stay put.
