Problem is the proper lines don't generally get dry because people don't use them.
That shell - how bare is bare?

Dunno there are no pics, but after having a bump in one im not convinced on french saftey, think that hole in the side proves how thin the metal is

Thin metal is good, lighter.
It's also more than you have in a Caterham, and they go faster!

I wrote a Saxo off in a mk3 astra going 5mph in a car park, pulled out as he was driving past. His B pillar was fucked and all the astra wants from it was a new pass side headlight, indicator and wing.
Bamboo and rice paper always comes to mind when I see them now.

Cage it
There's the safety issue sorted and as Ian said, tin can metal = light. I'd find out what's left of the shell then work from there, if it's completely bare then it's pointless but if it's got panels that you need then it could be worth going for

Cage is also heavy and expensive, I've no plans for one until I start actually going fast.
I know it's a controversial point but I don't really feel a cage necessary for a public track day in road cars.
And try and find something cheap or free that isn't too naked, just more work.

the classic french car snap - done that in fads clio and wasnt going fast :/
i do think it was unlucky looking at the video, diff pulled the front wheels in under acceration and slight steering angle of which the rears didnt want to follow

not allways
making the shell stiffer doesnt allways make a car handle better.

That's the main reason I've wanted one. When I used to jack the Corsa up, it was that flexible it was sometimes a struggle to get the door open so getting rid of all that flex must help. There's also the few occasions when I've spun and could've potentially dug in and rolled if the ground had been slightly more firm

I my experience it makes a huge noticable difference and would always be top of any list I made for a track/day car.

its this that kind of worried me about taking my clio 197 on track, it handles really well on the road and you can get the back to flick out easier then any other fwd car i have driven! if it did happen on track dont wanna wreck the clio!
in contrast the van which has super light rear end i have never had the back come our really part from on semi slicks in very wet conditions which was nice and slow how it came out, only slight and the power quite happly dragged it straight!
