That clearly does not say 'Halfords' or 'Advanced' on the bit of the collar showing. It's clearly a different bar.

I'll admit I'm just trying to wind you up.
But if it says 'Halfords' on one side and 'advanced' on the other surely you'd be able to see that writing in the pic from page 2. You can see a good bit around the collar and it looks like there's no writing at all on it.

If it was old it would be Halfords Professional
Was going to say the same, the Advanced range was only released about 18 months ago.

It's obviously what you say it is and it's obviously broken. My advice would be take it back and ask them to replace it, and don't mention the fact that you were using 3/8th for a wheel nut or an extension bar with additional leverage.
You should really have a feeling for what the tools can do, they will fail if you ask too much, which is why you can get 3/4 drive and bigger.
Your bigger problem may be that the hubs are damaged, did they come out cleanly when you eventually got them off?

yeah they were ok. Its actually bolted to a hubcentric spacer so worst case would have been a damaged spacer, but its ok

Are they alu? That's a lot of torque if so. How long ago were they put on? May also be that you have corrosion on the threads because of the dissimilar metals.

idiots, doing wheels up too tight i swear people never torque stuff.
couldn't it be deemed dangerous if you can't remove a wheel when needed, (maybe just inconvienent)
i'd break down somewhere and phone the garage telling them i couldn't remove a wheel due to incorrect torque and ask them to come out and remove it
