I knew someone with one as well who said it was great in the snow, not sure whether to believe him or somebody that sold parts for one?

so that would really not make your rado special - as most people look at the TT as golf with a different body

Is that what you think the rado is????

whos correct then? basically people saying haldex is almost useless and others saying it's brilliant?

also looked up astra vxr insurance which was 1140 so about the same as the beemer.

focus rs is still winning, just worried i'll compare it too much to my old st and feel let down.

Haldex is a good system, but it's not proper 4wd so people give it a bad rep.

In the snow I would rather be in an old S3 with Haldex than my Leon without. My next car will have 4wd, if I ever get it

best thing to do experience haldex for yourself and make your mind up

Last year my mate had good expereince with the haldex in the snow on his S3. However he still got stuck eventually

Personally I do not liek the Haldex system as its FWD biased anyway but thats only my opinion

If I had my time again I would get a 180 FWD TT and map it

Never been in an ST focus but performance would be similar I reckon

for me the TT is numb its not a divers car and you will get bored of driving it. also the ride is not good on 18's - very crashy suspension

This, tbh.

My car is not a driver's car like my old Fiesta was.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can get a map fot the TT which displaces the power 50 / 50 front and rear. At present I think it's like 70 / 30 towards the front wheels.

I agree that it's not as raw as an ST or RS - hence why i'm after the S2000 for some more kicks but if you do a lot of miles the comfort of TT comes into it's own.

Everyone so far who has owned one says its good in the snow.

Not sure how being negative is related to you talking rubbish

most turbo cars are non-drivers cars i find, unless they have proper turbos and not these engine boosters as i call them

if its slow without the turbo its basically an engine booster they put on to cheat the system.

I disagree, the engine on my car is the best thing about it.

It's the steering that isn't perfect, unlike my old mk5 fiesta zetec-s.

it's not for that, everyone in our street has problems when it snows as it's a big hill and the council can't get gritters down as they can't get back up.

just thought it'd be ideal to have some sort of cheap 4wd system rather than nothing at all.

everyone on the street should club together and grit the road, like ye olde days

@aidohead, your paying for the turbo, take the turbo away and what do you like best then?

Where I live it's crazy in the winter. Only other solution would be to get winter tyres on some spare wheels.

My friend has a Skoda vRS TDI and has OEM steel wheels with winter tyres for the snow. Performed amazingly!

trouble with everyone owning one saying they are good is that they convince themselves there cars are proper 4wd and that it must be brilliant so say it, i bet if they drove something else fwd back to back they wouldnt notice a difference

The turbo makes the 20V engine amazing. Take it away and it'll be 130bhp and slow as fuck.

I'd happily pay for the turbo every time.
