Just got some sample frames for it:
Rocking the dark oak finish one today:
In the process of designing a production control board and LED panel. Will sell 5 prototypes (at high cost to meet tooling costs) on a crowd funding website in March/April time and hopefully after then I'll be able to sell a batch of production clocks on at a better price.
Some mildy acceptable photos (product photography is tricky, so I just found out):

Thought I'd say too, the illumination of the letters is more even than in the picture - iPhones hey? Saying that, the illumination panel I've designed for the new one ought to be nice and even because I've designed it according to the specs of a particular kind of backlighting LED.

That looks amazing with the frame!
Could you do it with LEDs which can change colour?

Cheers
In theory you could use RGB LED's so you could do some colour changing...

I'd definitely have one with that option! Any rough idea of cost for a production model with frame?

Not looking to do them with colour adjustability yet - don't want to add complication to it yet.
Think I'm going to try to bring it in at £50 - did want to do them for over £100 with a glass fascia and high quality frame but it's a bit of a risk selling premium stuff out my bedroom.

Looks good with frame, photos are good apart from the lit up words aren't looking that much different to the non lit up bits. Doesn't show the effect as well as the last photo even though that was taken on a phone.

Will do Whittie - getting there on the re-design. Hopefully get the new electronics up and running this week.
Know what you mean Simon, the pics in my portfolio aren't great. Need to buy a tripod to take some good ones, and probably find some decent lighting to use or make a lightbox to take the pics in.

Would look good with a glass facia and gloss surround but wont the glass facia reflect the light from the lit up letters and look a bit odd/blurry.
Could you do one whereby the non-lit up letters are darker/blend into the facia more? So you get a bigger contrast.

Can use dark grey or white filter paper - I preferred the contrast of the dark white letters to the grey ones when I built this one. It looked too much like I was trying to hide the letters which weren't illuminated, poorly.
Glass would be nice, but that's as good as ruled out now due to costs. Got a sample from a supplier today of a new glossy fascia, not going to say any more about it apart from it looks brilliant!
