Hate the tread pattern on the Vredesteins and I had them on my Mazda and hated them, swapped them with the T1-R's the guy had on the back and they were 10x better. Just bought tyres for my missus Cooper S and had the choice of Vredestein or Hankook V12's and I went for the Hankook's as the reviews are loads better and wet performance.

Strange one that! Had a full set on my Astra VXR which was 300bhp and it transformed it. Especially in the wet. Same in my Audi. Both wet and dry traction and cornering grip is sensational. I'll not buy anything else as long as I can get them.

I've only ever had Conti Premium Contact (they were reasonable)
Uniroyal Rainsport (great in the wet but didnt last long)
Bridgestone Pontezza REO50(ithink) currently have these on the Astra and can't fault them, last ages too

I think you can't drive OJC. Mine is brilliant wet or dry with the OEM ContiSport3's.

Me too, but mine misshaped over time and my local tyre garage said that they see it all the time. The latest design might be better. I'm talking about the GS-D ones

Go on shitty SCN and you'll see that people will agree with my opinion, they're shite in snow. (yes, I know they're summer tyres... )

I slid backwards down 3 hills a few years back

Certain tyres work better on some cars than others.

I didn't find out about it from the Internet

Oh, and I had about 4 sets before I encountered it, but was told by a good garage that it was common.

I don't know if it's the tyres on yours. I was just making a general comment to some people saying one type of tyre was good on their car and someone else saying they aren't.

Found this on Tyre review:

"I brought a set of these and from the word go was unhappy with the noise. After a few thousand miles i started to get a pulsing road noise and eventually took the car to Audi suspecting a UJ or something. Audi said both front tyres were badly misshapen !! after just 4000 miles. Driving this car now is like being back in an Army Land rover as the tyres pulse at 50mph and resonate right through the car. Worst tyres i have ever had !"

They were 225/40/18 like mine were. Probably a dodgy batch.

budget tyres mate.

Did you not have Vreds on your FST?

yes.

when i took it in for a service, i had original conti's on the front and the vredestein's on the back. the retarded apprentice who checked the car over wrote down 'budgets' instead of vredestein.

probably couldn't spell it.

Ive never went out of my way to buy a certain brand of tyre.

I usually just roll up to Fraser Brothers, tell them to fire on a part worn, and be done with it.

And in the 10 years ive been driving, ive never been in a situation where ive blamed the tyres or not been happy with them.

Hell i even have 205 50 16s on an 8j rim on the rear of my MR2. The guys on the forums would have a heart attack if they knew i was running anything skinnier than 225s ( factory size). Car still seems to handle fine. No drama's.

Skip the CSC3, go straight to the Goodyear ASYM2 or Michelin Pilot SuperSport. Have heard that these two tyres are currently the dogs bollocks

Different tyres work very differently to different cars though. I had T1-R's on my Zetec S & I thought they were crap but on the Mazda they were alright

Yeah but then like I said above it's a completely different car plus I haven't used them in the snow & they wouldn't get a rating either as everyone says to get walking if it snows as the M3 is useless

Another comparism is Paradas, I had them on my Mazda and I rated them at the time but the wet performance was shocking it used to under steer on roundabouts at anything over 20mph yet my mate in his MK1 FRS went around a bend at 70 without a twitch or anything, I couldn't believe it
