As a simple browsing system it might be great although i am dubious why they went for HC over ICS especially as there are A5's (TCC8925C) that run ICS. Certainly be interesting to see what it's like handling media playback though (mixed reviews with the RPi).
Although there are better spec'd boards/systems around - Candy Cotton, AllWinner A10, Mele A1000, AliExpress, AliBaba, Tizzbird etc.

Just noticed that RS took the money straight away, even though it might be despatched in 3 weeks, nice of them.

Wikipedia says the production ones won't come with the pin header but mine has it.

XBMC on this one, I've not got a micro sd to sd adapter about though so can do absolutely nothing just now
Other one that comes I might have a better play with when I've got time.

That's what the one my Grandad ordered was for, need to look into how smooth it runs first though.

Got xbmc setup, I need a cable instead of a wirfi bridge to test it properly but looks ok so far.
xbmc looks to be a pain though, must have to do quite a bit of configuring before it all just works, that's not a rpi specific problem though.
You just burn the image to an SD card from a PC then put it in and give it power really.

We've got one up and running in the office just for a bit of Python programming - looks good so far. A little slow, but then I'm comparing it to i7 Macs/PCs which isn't really fair - once you've got stuff up and running it works really well.

Its surprising that no-one has shipped a copy of XBMC all pre-installed etc i.e. copy to SD, pop in and boot and there you are, into XBMC

Just use Raspbmc or OpenELEC RPi version; just a case of imaging an SD card.

They do Rob and that's what I done Dom.
OpenELEC.
It just seems that xbmc needs a bit of configuring after that to look decent.

The thing with adding themes is that it slows down, especially with the really good themes like Aeon.
Pretty sure I've got the default one on my Revo, not very often I sit there flicking through films etc anyway.

Surprised you "have to do quite a bit of configuring before it all just works". Every time i've used XBMC it's been pretty much PnP apart from configuring network shares.
Saying that, current reviews of XBMC on RPi don't appear to be all that. Certainly a mate was saying when he's watching something and opens an overlaying menu the whole thing stutters badly.
Be interesting to see if overclocking would correct this though.
noshua - Is that on the 300? Would have thought the dual-core would be powerful enough to support XBMC themes fully.

It's the network shares bit that took me the longest, mainly because my keyboard wouldn't work.
I've never used xbmc before, it just looked like I must have to do more.
If I can get a bit of cat6 up to the loft I'll be able to test it more.
