Thats how we do it at my work (im only a valeter like)

We sell cars, carvans and motorhomes.

Just had a ford KA come in on trade for a pug 206 and the car owes us something silly like £95 so were selling it for just over £100 to make abit of profit

318 petrol, Fuck me I'd be bored after the first month then realise I've still got 35 more at £350 a go.

My 318D M-Sport does my head in at times.

The badge on the bonnet should be all that matters though.

I wouldn't go and look at cars over my price range, seems like something for people who live behond their means, always relying on that monthly pay check, never having any savings.

Ok for a second suppose that this cars monthly payment is maybe just 5-6% of a households net income, its pretty insignificant. I'm not living outwidth my means i'm taking advantage of a good deal. I dont see any reason at all why i'd be better buying outright, my names still on the V5 as if I bought it, I get options in 3yrs whether to keep, trade or give back & moneys cheap to borrow just now might as well take advantage of it

No that's not what I mean mate, surely if you HAVE pcp you don't need GAP? Hence because you don't own the car if it gets written off you don't owe anything? Or am I being daft?

If you write the car off you'll still be liable for the rest of the payments.

Not sure you need GAP.

I never expect to get a brand new car if I crash my old one.

GAP insurance covers the difference between what the insurance company pay out and what you still owe should the car be stolen/written off iirc.

It wasn't anything personal against you.

Just don't understand the whole thing of never owning something and paying off for it always, isn't something I can do, I either pay for it outright in cash or I don't bother, obviously it works for some people.

I like to have money in the bank for a rainy day or when a good deal comes up but guess you have that as well

Finance to me is a way of paying for something you cant afford outright and in that sense you can't afford it so why have it.

Just a way I have been brought up

I second what jambo said. with leasing cars end of the day if you want easy motoring and can afford to get something like what colins just got, you only live once so why not.

Btw nice motor colin.

for people who don't like getting new cars on finance, i paid £2000 for my puma. i spent £300 on a starter motor repair, then the gearbox went. all in 18 months.

i pay £130 a month on the fiesta and don't need to worry about that stuff, and also get to drive a brand new car around for 2 years or until i part ex it for another new one.

in the grand scheme of things, £33 a week doesn't seem to much to have that peace of mind.

Exactly, one trouble free dispensable car on a manageable monthly payment & one older cool one is the future.

I'll be upgrading the M3 as & when possible & keeping the kids & shopping lugger exactly for that!!

So just like renting a big widescreen television.

Do you'se do that aswell?? Have a house full of rented appliances, cooker, washing machine, the lot.

Sounds like it if thats you're outlook on renting a car. Same scenario in the grand scheme of things.
