Common misconception.

Most early dust and grime is light in colour and will not show as easily on a white car.

However, a heavy layer of dirt will look worse on a white car.

Also, what worries me more about a black car, light scratches and swirl marks don't show up nearly as easily on a white car as they will always appear lighter than the rest of the paint.
