I know the owner of Jet vehicle leasing. He is a very very big player in moving Vauxhall product and is a bit more than a broker as he does all of his own logistics and PDi etc. I would deal with him rather than Ling personally.

Just rang Jet and the deal is a new one; does include tax the same as ling and is £165.59 for two years and £173.98 and only a £50 registration fee which is payable a couple of weeks prior to delivery. Its the same 3 payments upfront; but is at the time the car is ready and not now.
There leed time is 14 weeks tho so mid April.
Also you can have Met paint; so we are having Arden Blue

So if you sign up now you don't pay anything for a few weeks?
This does nothing to stop my temptation

£7000 for 3 years motoring.
Im all for leasing, but couldnt do that myself.
Motoring costs alot more than £7000 over 3 years
Not if you have a sensible car
My boring ass Astra costs me £400 to insure, £1000 in fuel, £100 in depreciation, £50 in tyres and £250 a year servicing / repairs, lets call it £2k / year.
But it is boring
edit - I clicked the link after posting the above, that site is fucking bonkers
[Edited on 13-01-2013 by dannymccann]
£100 depreciation on an Astra over 3 years? Or do you mean £100 a month?

Hassle free motoring. That's what you are paying for.

you are paying for the depreciation, which if you buy a new car you will be doing anyway, once you get your head around that then their really is no issue.
if you are comparing it to buying 2nd hand then yes its crazy.

This, when looking at the numbers the only reason I would NOT lease a new car is if I could get a 0%, 0 deposit finance deal as I did with my missus' Corsa.
I guess it's a bit of a pain if you want to start tinkering/modifying - but I imagine very few people do this to a brand spanker anyway.
The other potential downside I guess is if your personal circumstances change. I got a 1.8 Honda Civic on finance, then a few months later got payrises and stuff - and decided I could afford something more exciting. Buying out of the finance was easy, but might be a PITA with a lease.

If it was me, i'd buy a cheap corsa vxr for under £6k.
If the car's due in April (In Nath's case), then you can save the payment till then, 170 x 3 = £510, that's £510 more towards the deposit of one, get a small loan from bank for 5k over 12 months or 2 years, and you own a 5k car then. That would be what i'd do anyway. Agreed with the trouble free motoring etc.

My angle is more it not needing MOT's, under warranty, free Road Fund License, and brand spankers parts etc... Buying a 6k VXR won't really tick those boxes. I'm moving out later this year and would like the budgeting on a deal like this. My car needed a new water pump this month and tbh I could do without those nasty surprises when I'm living on a tighter budget. Arguably though if I am moving out then maybe spending £166 a month should/could be avoided. Swings and roundabouts I guess.
