No, lets not leave it as curiosity. I'm more than curious now

A Supersports. But change the do to did, as it went a week ago. Will have something new in a few months.

I have to admit I do get where p is coming from in terms of the styling of the R8 - compared to some of the supercars out there it does look quite 'average' now.
By no means an old car or horrible one to look at, but I'd be intrigued to see what a replacement would look like.

The 'new model' being released next year looks almost identical too, but the interior will hopefully be updated a bit, the main disappointment is the satnav and media system after coming from the top of the range Z4...

And yes I also agree slightly about the styling but I also looked at the F430 and Gallardo and decided I couldn't live with either as a daily driver and my nay vehicle, there are some days where you just don't want too much attention and the R8 isn't as flamboyant and extravagant as the other two :-)

Very true, and that's the exact reason a couple of my clients bought them tbh as they wanted supercar performance that could be used on a daily basis whilst being practical and reasonably subtle

I don't think it looks dated, but it is a design that's been with us for 7 years. So it just hasn't got that wow factor any more.

The satnav is epically shit. You can only search the first 4 digits of a postcode and it once navigated us to an Audi dealer that had moved years ago

an audi with a wow factor would go against their design philosophy, surely?
sure, they are all nice cars, but they are more subtle than outrageous.
they have lamborghini for that side of things.

I was going to get the manual after reading the reviews othe R Tronic but I test drive the R Tronic and fell in live with the flappy paddles.
I don't get on with the r-tronic at all I'm a manual whore. Get an exhaust on it, they sound great with a decent exhaust.
Sat navs not that bad, you can put the street in after the half postcode.
New ones cool, has sweeping indicators and there will be a v10 plus. Not much is gonna change inside tho. Also the rtronic is going in favour of stronic
I have some pics that would scare you however!

I've spent hours on YouTube looking at aftermarket exhausts but I cant justify the £3k (ish) outlay at the moment. There's an American company that make one with remotely operated (from the dash) valves so you can select the noise levels as you drive which would be great for me as I love making a lot of noise sometimes but also live in a residential area!

Also the sweeping indicators apparently fit on the older ones and they are around £1200 IIRC on the R8 forum classifieds. They look amazing though!

i think it looks spot on
The only thing that is dated is the interior - but you only notice this when sitting in the new models like the A6 etc
Awesome car - enjoy it I'm sure you are

I love how any time someone doesn't absolutely love something expensive they are immediately jealous.
Nice car - it's not what I'd have for that budget but it's still a cool car.

I eventually want a GT-R for this reason. Supercar performance, subtle styling, fine for a daily and more importantly, realistic price range for someone who isn't winning as much at life

That makes you a better man than I.
If I had that sort of cash to spunk into a car, I'd have a Ferrari or a Lambo just say I've got a Ferrari or a Lambo
Ringing Grandma up and telling her I've just bought an Audi doesn't have the same ring to it - despite it probably being a better car
Saw the megafactories thingy on Discovery about R8's, really liked them ever since - some of the interior options were just amazing.

What year is it? I've drove a customers r8 and drove f430 and a gallardo on one of those experience days, in no way are they in same league. Although I think running costs of r8 would be a lot better than the others. Isn't there an Audi mechanic on here who posted working on one?
