Possibly written off then, and instead of repairing with proper headlights, just used poverty spec lights.

Not really.

E36's came in later life with headlight washers and they never had xenons. They aren't mutually exclusive

Also E46's have them also, on halogen lamps. It's a German thing

I think its more to do with owners wanting other road users to think they have the top spec package, when in fact they only have the £50 optional extra. That sounds more believable.

tbh, they are crap and spray washer fluid all over the front end of your car when driving at speed. not something i would be jealous of, personally.

I don't quite get what they do apart from squirt the front of your car with water. They surely don't clean that well with no wiper?

I've always thought this. My Clio had the habit of doing it just after I had washed it and got the screen dirty whilst the rest of the car was clean. Hit the stalk and every third go or something the lights would get sprayed and then cover my clean car in crap

It's more about cost saving for BMW, you will find on the newer ones that a lot of them have wiring and hardware to accomadate most optional extras and that maybe only a part and some coding maybe required to activate it.

Yeah it's bloody annoying, my bonnet is watermarked to hell, I've started trying to only clean my screen when my lights are turned off,
Guess I shouldn't pull the fuse as I have xenons
