An F40 and an XJ220 near me only ever seen them both once! Wish I knew of 5 XJ220's kicking about local!

A rare 964 would most definitely be an investment.
Far more manageable than a £400k Ferrari too. As I said earlier in the thread, there's a Porsche garage 15 miles from here. The nearest Ferrari garage is 125 miles away.
I was speaking to my dad about a few ideas last night and he basically said Ferrari servicing, spares and repairs scares him and he just doesn't know enough to jump right in at the deep end and he's too much of a Porsche man.
So it looks like any Ferrari is probably out the window 
I guess something cheaper could be complimented with a cheaper, more "every day" toy too.
I know the R43 GTR holds it's money extremely well

If I was spending ~400k on a car, i'd certainly spend around £20 in fuel going to a garage.
GTR's arent special though, lovely, quick, but not special.

£20? More like £120 for a 250 mile round trip, however it's not the cost of fuel that's the issue. It's the added mileage and the potential stone chips from such a long journey. Plus if the car has to be left overnight then you either have to get a train or a lift back or get the car trailered down.
You don't think the R34 GTR is special? They're so rare. And very special in my opinion.

£120 is nothing when you go to look at a car of the value mentioned though, and as for the stone chips.. i'm sure your brother could help out in that department, in the event of any stone chips.
Not really, awesome cars, but not special.
There's a fair few floating about;
Standard Cars = 3,964
V-Spec = 1,308
V-Spec UK = 101
V-Spec N1 = 45
V-Spec II = 5,512
V-Spec II Nür = 750
V-Spec II N1 = 18
M-Spec = 228[18]
M-Spec Nür = 250
Total = 12,175
Whereas something special like the CarerraGT mentioned, only 1200 were made. Plus its what i'd class as a special car, it's the top of a range car made by a proper car brand. Same with the F40's.

I think he's decided on what he wants next and it's a 997.2 GT3 RS in blue with the gold decals.

Yeah, still got both the RS'.
I'm sure the 991 GT3 would be amazing, but he's wanting something which won't lose too much money, so buying a £100k+ car brand new isn't a wise choice.
The only way it would be an option was if they did another limited edition like the GT3 RS 4.0.

After the last seller turned out to be a bit of a time waster I've finally found another one.
This one in particular.

They do look awesome don't they. Although, I've still never seen a blue one in the flesh.
The last one where the deal fell through was also a 2010, and it had done 3900 miles.
The owner wanted £100k which is about market value.
We'll see how this one compares to that...

Thought the previous one wanted more money than 100k thats why he didn't sell is because your dad tried to get him down.

Apparently the blue/gold is one of the rarest colour schemes so you're right. Buyers don't have much leverage.

Regarding the above quote which is in reference to the XJ220: All I meant was that I had started seeing more on the roads.
The 997.2 GT3 RS is a rare car. It is also the last with a manual gearbox, so it will remain desirable for a while.
Both my dad and I think it's a safe bet.
