I do get that argument. But what's his biggest spent? £15m? That's around the value of a squad player at United. And he's not exactly experienced in the Champions League. The quality of players needed to win the Premier League and Champions League is on another level entirely to what he's used to.
100% agree. For a start he is poor with big money, even Fellaini you coudl argue was a waste of money - £15m was a lot given that he has only just started to come good. Others like that Russia guy, £10m etc. Always my thought that he'd better suit Spurs IMO

Fergie IS United. I honestly reckon they drop away a bit, even with Maureen in charge.
You mean you hope so.
I would have liked one more Arsenal v United battle for title tbh. AW v Fergie.
True. Going to be a huge summer! Surely they must have ideas in place. Fergie wouldn't stitch them up.
Agreed, don't think they would ahve annoucned without havign somethign in palce whetehr it be Phelan or Mourinho etc.

Crazy, total respect.
They could pick from Mourinho, Moyes, Heynckes et al but I'd go with what ben D said and do a Barca, put Mike Phelan in charge for the first year and see how it works out - stability is what that club will need to weather what will presumably be a very difficult yera next season. IMO. However, given the timing and availability of Mourinho/Moyes etc., I don't know whether they would want to do that but maybe Wenger and Pep aside, there is no top manager in world football that they couldn't lure from any position
I wouldn't mind Phelan in charge. Always wanted someone within the club to do it. It's a shame all the previous players have been awful at managing

Moyes is not the answer. At least Fergie was winning stuff in Aberdeen before United. Moyes has done nothing.

In even bigger news, Arsenal last night agreed a £30m per year kit deal with Puma. Added to the Emirates £35m a year and the matchday revenue and we're back with the big boys again
Let's hope Wenger spends it

I know this sounds harsh but I guarantee he'll look back at "only" 5 FA Cups and 2 European Cups as being a modicum of failure across 26 years.
Insane that he won the title every other year over such a sustained period though!

I would say, hwoever, that it probably proves just how difficult winning the European Cup is!
Wrt FA Cups, one thing I will never forgiv ehim for is startign the decline iof the FA Cup by not enetring as holders in 99-2000 season so he could concentrate on world club cup
