Ace, will track your head to head results with great interest.
Question is, who will get who's hand me down performance parts?
Slightly off topic, is vinyl wrapping not more cost effective for recolouring a track car where quality of finish isn't quite the top priority, and probably neither is longevity based on the cat litter finish the skyline has now got?

I think its about the same price to respary/wrap..
Re-spray is MUCH easier to keep though, but the wrap is easy to patch.
With a wrapped (and hard used) track car it gets covered in holes from stone chips and gets tatty pretty quickly in the normal stone chip areas.

Fair enough, I don't know much about wrap maintenance/repair tbh but I'm pretty sure it's a lot cheaper than a full respray.
Can't wait to see this car progress though, I get a feeling it'll be on track before we know it!

it was very similar spec to my current engine, and not far off the price of a new one. I'd prefer a new engine.
Not even sure if its still for sale - just a rolling shell we were after at this point

There's a Kandy Apple Red Type R shell (without 22b kit though) on ScoobyNET classified atm. You should have bought that, thrown some chrome spinners in the boot and you'd be good for shows between track days

i remember it up for 40k or something
This 'shell' wasnt exactly cheap - could have bought a nice running TypeR for the money but when we considered what is has, and the money it would take to buy/fit etc it made some more sense.
22B arches - £1500 +
Cage (buying, fitting, seam welding, seat mounts etc) - £2000
6sp DCCD, diff, shafts etc - £2000 +
GRP Doors - £500
Lexan windows - £500
flocked dash with digi dash thing - £500 +
light weight loom - £dunno
Shell - £1500 seems to be the going price for a rolling standard 2dr shell
Engine, Susp, ECU are all the BIG things needed - but no rush

Instead of wrapping or painting could maybe plasti dip it, cheaper and can maintain yourself easily, does mean having a Matt finish tho
But colour is nice

John-d - would you just piss off out of this thread.
Iaz - Wont it be like a wrap in regards to its strength? i.e stap to peel in the lower skirt / lower rear 1/4 areas. I've heard of it, just never looked into it.

I've heard of plastidippimg wheels and trim, whole cars though
I imagine it's easy to patch up, just a few rattle can coats after each session if needed!

Yet you feel the need to dish insults out and swan about like your better then everyone else ...
I dont have any hard on for you.... I do however think your still the arrogant bell end you always were.... Might aswell leave it at that
And I think a ban was probably a good decision....

another trashed thread by john d.
I can only imagine what its going to be like. They dont weigh that much as standard do they? I had a type r which was apparently over 400bhp and it was scarey fast. Its the only car i wish i never sold , that ended up in ireland with a set of 22b wings etc .

Just noticed this, love the new car (22B body has always been a bit special) and looking forward to seeing how it progresses

With regards to painting I would go for a straight easy colour and paint it. Not a big cost and presuming it doesn't need to look amazing if its just for the track. Could get done cheaply.

tbf if your respraying a car its not going to make much difference what colour you go for , especially on the scheme of things where hes probably going to be throwing mega bucks at it

Not a fan of the scooby I personally prefer the Skyline but that's only becasue I'm a Skyline fan also I should point out, that I know sweet FA about track cars, you got the scooby for whatever reasons which is fair play.

Does the skyline have quite a bit of toe in on the rear wheels?

SOS Motorsport in Falkirk did us a good deal on the Skyline respray so I'll be getting in touch with them again for the Impreza
