Very unlikely at the temperatures brake discs get up to, that's probably why all manufacturers use it.

Yeah, although I suspect being entirely adequate for the job is a much bigger factor

Are we seriously suggesting that it is impossible for a steel disc to warp given an excessive amount of heat?

Granted alot of brake discs i have seen that are 'warped' with vibrations under braking have been caused by burnt in pad material... But i have also seen genuinly warped discs also... dont need a DTI or lathe to see the runout on them... can feel it with your fingers also

In fact one of my rears did it on my soarer, mostly due to a siezed caliper, so god knows what heat was produced, but yeh warped as in no longer straight

Its physics at the end of the day, the rapid and uneven cooling of a metal will result in it warping, just look at welding thin metal..

Not reading the whole thread to see if it's been mentioned, but if the disk has its holes added in the casting process then it reduces the risk of cracking. If they are drilled as secondary process then it can cause a weakness which increases the risk of cracking.

I see warped discs at work all the time. We machine them down and theyre good to go again. Thats when the discs minimum thickness comes into play too. Machine too far and theyre fucked.

I drive the car, feel the shudder through either the wheel(front brakes) or pedal (rear brakes), remove the discs and pads, machine the discs, fit new pads and machined discs, drive the car, no shudder.
