Might fancy a go at a duathlon later next year. Need to get a good bit fitter first.

Wanted to do the Cambridge half. Missed the deadline.
Wanted to do the Silverstone half. Full.
Want to do the Milton Keynes half. Plenty of spaces. On the girlfriends birthday.
Dammit.

Random question does anyone else's legs itch when they run? If I'm wearing jogging bottoms my legs tend to get itchy when I run it eventually wears off if I run through it but is it purely down to the trousers rubbing and irritating them?

Will be a bit of rubbing. Wear shorts or running tights.

Did Wythenshawe Parkrun today. It was an absolute mud bath. Ran a 25.08 which is slow even for me. But happy enough due to conditions and a few extra Xmas pounds.

Got a head torch to use instead of carrying one in my hand. Allegedly I look like a minion.

I've only ever tried going out on a jog/run a couple of times. But i've just been reading the Couch to 5K stuff and fancy giving it a try again! Anyone else really unfit and just starting out like me?

Any tips from you experienced runners for someone just starting out as well? I think i'll struggle to control my pace and end up burning myself out too quickly

Couch to 5k type app is how I got started. You eventually learn to pace yourself, just walk until you can run again etc etc.

Get some proper running shoes from a proper running shop. Not your DW or JJB shit. How far away from you is this place.. www.upandrunning.co.uk/harrogate. Take things slowly at first and allow your body to adapt to the new punishment you'll be giving it. You'll get aches and pains but just listen to the body and don't run if it hurts, wait till the next day when its eased off. Increase the distances gradually and don't be put off if you have a shit run as the next one will feel so much better. Any questions just shout up. Been doing it for about 6 years now and in the middle of training for london marathon in April.

Nice one, cheers! Yeah i've been in Up and Running in Harrogate before, only 10/15 minutes away. I've got some Asics already, but could probably do with some better ones.

Done the local one a few times, it's 3 laps with a pretty big hill on though so it is a bit of a killer!

Distance wise I'm getting pretty good. Seem to be able to keep a reasonably similar pace. Aiming to run 5k with sub 7min miles by the end of the year.

I agree, I did a half marathon last year and I was just glad it was over, doubt I'll ever run anywhere near that distance now. On your second point id say that cycling was better, you can exercise the same way on both but cycling will have far less impact on your body, we really arent built for running long distances on rock hard ground.
