Not much of an update, but I thought I would give my local maindealer a call and get a few more bits on order, namely one of the optional sunglass holders that replace the grab handle and a set of Astra Mk4 GSi side repeaters. I was under the impression that the GSi owners on here were using pre 97 rear mudflaps so asked for a set of these, but I was informed that Vauxhall actually manufacture mudflaps specifically for the GSi ..... so got a set of these on order instead
Will post pics when they arrive
oh, front passenger wheel bearing was naff so this was changed today .. no pics as this was pretty boring

Got the mudflaps that Vauxhall list for the GSi and they are shite. More like universal items, infact the information sheet says that they fit the front and rear of the GSi! So, I sent them back and told them to send me the pre 97 items that I originally asked for.
Pics for those who are interested:

Pre 97 flaps arrived and the shockingly bad GSi ones have gone back to Vauxhall
Also received the Astra Mk4 smoked repeaters .... quite glad that they are Depo and not cheap rubbish

They are pre97 ... my last corsa was a post97 and they are slightly different in profile and the bottom locator is also very slightly different. Not much between them admittedly.

Yes me too ... I am still waiting on the pistons to be pocketed to be able to get the engine back together and in the shell so that I can move on with the build. I have however started taking the interior apart and sending bits off to be painted. Pics when they come back

Mr Vauxhall delivered a few more bits, namely an astra battery bag and a pair of sunglass holders. These were a steal at £6.35 each brand new. I seem to remember these going for more than that on e-bay !

I have lost the will to live whilst waiting on Kent Cams to give me the specifications to pocket the pistons. Bearing in mind that the cams were sold as a direct fit, I had to modify the head so that they will turn and don't want to get the pistons wrong and risk ruining the engine.
So, one set of Wossner forged 79.5mm high compression pistons and rods have been ordered. The guy at TSR Racing seemed to think that the pockets on these will easily cope with the valve/cam set up running in my C16XE. They should arrive next week - problem solved
I figure it would be a good idea to get a lightened flywheel in there whilst the engine and gearbox are apart, does anyone know if you can buy these or do I have to send the existing one off?? In either case I would appreciate if anyone could recommend somewhere to do/get this from.

Tested out a different effect on the cam covers and I must say I am really impressed. I will be sending the rocker cover and carb caps back to be done in this effect instead. Let me know what you think!

That looks more like carbon than the previous parts you had done, who do you use for the dipping and how expensive was the belt cover to do?

Wicked Coatings in Poole, its a hydrographic dipping process. You will have to take my word for it that this looks even better infront of you than in the pics. I am sending a load of bits to them so I dont really know how much individual parts are costing, but I would guess at £70-£80 which isn't bad in my opinion.

A few more bits turned up today, shame the pistons are still not here I really need to get the engine back together and in so the build can move forward. However the SBD flywheel turned up ( thanks Kylesri )
and I also managed to talk Janspeed into making a 4-2-1 manifold for me (they stopped making parts for the corsa b a few years back) They made an extra couple so if you want one get onto them fast before they sell !
