What if you can't get clothes in the style/size you want from 2nd hand shops or whatever??
I'd argue that buying clothes from places like littlewoods is basically buying them on tick.
Pay £1.26 per week for a t-shirt etc.

Its those fat single stay at home mums that finance their clothes. Surely not trendy young men in corsas.

I didn't think people did that either.
Be the same people who have a leased car sitting on the drive.

This thread will be viewed as old hat in a year or 2 when the entire mentality towards financing and leasing alters as the motor industry moves towards weighting their deals in favour of PCP type affairs.
They are creating themselves recurring business and, although I've never owned a lease or PCP, I'd choose whichever made the most sense for a variety of reasons and not because of how some people perceive outright ownership as the only option.

Having a car is all well and good but if you have no job how you going to run it

This is where having to be sensible comes in to the equation, if I didn't have a stable job or something I would class as casual then I wouldn't be signing up for any sort of agreement for monthly payments.

You'd have to be an idiot to sign up to anything whilst in a job with no security.

Not wanting to take lease/PCP/Finance on things is absolutely fine.
Not being able to use a calculator to work out if leasing is actually a better/equal/worse deal or not, is not fine.
