Ok so was bored decided to do a bit of cleaning. Cars been stood for a year as you know so was mouldy. Just used some APC and a microfibre. Went through all the gaps and seals.
Boot shut example:
All clean
Light seal was green for some reason I didn't take a before pic
Interesting to note the bumper and how it doesn't fit, it's had a smart repair too. Got some chips in the paint as well.
Improvement
Usual window area mould
Gone:
Badge
After:
One thing I noticed whilst doing this however is that it's had some paint on the rear quarter and been painted by the same highly skilled operatives as the front bumper seriously I hope it was cheap!! But it looks shit so must have been one of the Corsasport £100 resprays where they mask up to the rubbers instead of taking them off as you can see/feel the mask lines
Oh and notice the difference in colour between the number and rear quarter

Looks like it's getting there, can't beat the big post buy cleanup
It's horrible when you find dodgy paintwork I have a dodgy wing on the TT that I have been telling myself I will sort for three years

Have to agree tbh. Even with 215 35 tyres, the wheels look too wide for the mk4 arches.

Picking my wheels up Wednesday. Freshly refurbished. Tyres en route.
Something annoyed me at the weekend the drivers door handle was in a bad way were all the fingers have scratched the recess over the years. Took some terrible pictures but you might get the jist of it....
Bad scratches, so gave it a quick clean then used some G3 which was a bit scary. Came out dull so finished off with a bit of Tcut and it came up lovely. Very smooth now..
Before:
After:
As you can kind of make out, only a couple of the deeper scratches remain. Just nice and shiny and smooth. Will go over this with some AM details glaze and seal too.
Wing mirror cover looked dull on the leading edge, so cut that back with Tcut, improved slightly. Was scared to G3 it as wasn't sure if the laquer had gone off or if it was just badly painted etc. Probably can't make out from my pin hole camera photo's but you get the idea:
Before:
After, looks no different but at least it feels smoother now.

Not fitting them just yet, tyres need swapping over.
Next jobs:
- Replace Rocker Cover gasket and bolts
- Fit rear calipers/discs/pads
- Fit new wiper motor and linkage
- MOT
Then it will be VXR Turbo and if I have the cash Spings, then wheels will be fitted.

Decided to tackle the wiper motor today, needed a new motor as it would no longer self park which is a common Astra G issue. One of the ball joints had worn on the linkage too so I decided to sort this out...
Wiper mech exposed with scuttle and wipers off:
Linkage from a breakers in better nick:
New motor from Autovaux same as GM one without the badge (and price tag!)
Cleaned up the seal with APC then treated it to ensure it doesn't leak:
Then the light started to fade rapidly and I needed to smash it all back together. So I rushed through it and see if anyone can see which ste I forgot to do prior to putting the arms back on
Oooops
Will rectify that when its daylight tomorrow
