Nath not got a clue what any of them pubs are like as their obviously Blue pubs, They're all in Beswick/Clayton/Openshaw, Your probably best off in the pubs near Grey mare lane as it's near a police station & you wont have far to go when you get mugged for being an out-of-towner  [yes it happens  ]
Personally i would just take a stroll into the City Centre, It's only a 10 minute walk down Ashton new rd.

If they are classed as "steps forward" Robbo then I'd be immensely disappointed to be an Arsenal fan.
Especially beating Barca at home, you cant possibly use that as a yard stick for improvement otherwise in the same vein you would have to class losing away at Stoke as a step back as you won there last season.

The Premiership is just a massively weaker league than its ever been this year. I dont think many teams can say they went forward other than those at the bottom.
Last year 31 points saw you safe, with two games to go the lowest team have 33.
Arsenal finished on 75 points last season, this year the MAX they can get is 73.
Nearly every single top half team has gone backwards in the league this season

I think you could ague that the premiership as a whole i a lot more competative, which is a step forward, makes every game more interesting, I don't think any team in the top flight this season has been an easy team to beat?

Theres no "easy" games anymore. A few years back there were teams that were easy 6 pointers for the top teams but there aren't anymore. The top sides are just as strong but have tougher opposition now.
The top teams have still done well in CL so obviously aren't that weak.

You could say more competative, aye. It makes it a better league to watch but the teams that came up this season were not exactly great. Blackpool would never have survived last season, WBA are a perennial yoyo team.
So id say the top teams got weaker and allowed the lower teams to take points off them. Just look at squads, Man Utds is weaker (never replaced ronaldo), Arsenal are stuck in time, Chelsea are weaker (players just got older)
The top scorer in the league is Berba FFS and he hasnt played half the season

Only Man Utd have got further than the previous season and they had a pretty simple run. Chelsea were the only half decent side they played and that was one of the weaker top teams

If you show me where the bottom teams like Wigan, West Ham & Wolves who were all in the prem last season have massively strengthened Id agree, but they havent. The top teams just didnt improve/went backwards.
Look at the teams who have won the domestic trophies this season. Birmingham & one of Man City or fucking Stoke!

Well i think Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs & certainly City will strengthen in the summer which may create a gulf in class yet again, I'd rather our league be as competative as it is now rather than it go the way of La Liga, dominated by just 2 teams who are far superior to the rest of the team in the league imo making it a glorified SPL

Makes it more interesting certainly, much better to watch but i dont think it deflects from the fact that the top teams have gone backwards/at best not improved.
If you score less points than the previous season, the teams that came up were no better than the ones who went down and the middle sides didnt massively improve thier squads then that only leads to one thing, the top teams got weaker.
Which is backed up by the fact i cant think of one top 4 side who made a signing in the summer that raised eyebrows.

I'm with JJ, the league didnt strengthen, but it didnt need too, with chelsea and city going mad no doubt over the summer then hopefully3 or 4 other teams will too, yes it will mean that 5-6 teams will get a pasting most weeks, but should make the top more interesting
