I'm not going to give up my life, for the sake of training. As I said, it was several people's birthdays the last few weeks.

I'd just see it as throwing away all the hard work thats all, pouring all those dead calories down my neck! Personally I couldn't do it, but each to their own.

Do you never drink? Do you not go out and socialise with friends?

- 90 days is a long time to give up alcohol.

I haven't had a drink in 5 years and I still go out with friends, yes.

Do your friends still drink?

You see, that sounds like a nightmare to me. Half the enjoyment of going out for me, is having a few drinks. The thought of a sobre night would be fairly boring, half the jokes would not happen. I also hate having sobre people around when you're out drinking as they always get on their high horse about things.

As I say, 90 days is a long time to give up something i enjoy / part of the social process with my group of friends.

I will aim to tone down the drinking / going out for the 90 days (After this weekend I'm not planning to for quite a while) - but since it's my mates 21st ( ) - I feel it could be messy and to be sobre would be a disgrace.

Yes they do and its not an issue for me at all. My life pretty much revolves around training so I don't even see it as a chore, but I guess its 'cause I train to fight rather than for aesthetics etc.

Anyway. Back on topic ...

That's fair enough... I just don't think I could go to a night club, completely sobre and dance on the dancefloor with drunk people. Would feel so stiff.

What sort of fighting do you do? Boxing? Martial arts? Cage fighting?

Everyone else is drunk and thinks you're drunk anyway so you can do what you want! I do Muay Thai.

Nice do you do it properly? / compete on any level?

I saw loads of muay thai fights when I was in Thailand. Also enjoyed the contender muay thai series.

Im on Day 15, havent missed any of the workouts other than one Yoga one I think it was. Have pretty much stuck with the diet I posted. Had the odd day where I didnt know I was going to be out and about so hadnt planned anything and had to find something thats near enough to my plan. Had about 3 or 4 pints in the last 2 weeks also when Ive been to the football (been to 2 at Anfield and once at the pub so thats about 1/4 of what Id have at just those 3!).

Pretty happy with it all so far, think Im lacking a bit of cardio so intend to add some more in the mornings from Wednesday. Also going to move the Ab ripper to the mornings from the same day.

Here is my update, finished week one, pretty much, missed the saturday session, had a weekend in london to watch the nfl and clearly didnt eat well then, pizza hut, kfc, only had a couple of beers but the fast food will have done a lot of damage

Got back yesterday, played football, and really put a lot of effort in, will not be doing anything today, working 10-9

Wednesday i'm playing football so i'm going to do chest and shoulders before football, and then catch up this week, whilst getting my diet arranged around my hours at work and start p90x properly next monday, when i will drop alcohol all together etc

Happy with the programme to be honest, feel really good after doing the exercises, apart from yoga, because it's shit.

I have my diet pretty much spot on i think, dizzy will be confirming this for me this week, and i hope to see really good gains, i just need to learn to push myself, that's my major problem, because i feel i stop before my actual limit of reps

Yeah yoga sucks balls, so repetitive... I wouldn't mind if it had some variation, but the first 30 mins is a killer...

The whole thing goes on for FAR too long while he's talking about shit.

I may just write down the routine for yoga x (as I know most of it now) and just perform it in my own time, I reckon i could do the whole set in 40 mins or so on my own, rather than 1 hr 23 - waiting for them to talk.

Just a side note about pushing myself... my chest was screaming yesterday I matched / surpassed those morons at the back of the room with every push up exercise.

decline push ups of the second set were getting me... the diamond push ups i could do but it was a real struggle towards the end.

Pull ups seem to still be an issue (once my arms are tired).

On my third week now (did 3 weeks of diet and 2 weeks training), checked the scales (well wii fit) and im down 1/2 a stone and can see the difference. Depending how I do the next 2 weeks might add another week to phase 1. Paul I find im the opposite to you, I start to struggle with the push ups but find the pull ups easy (well easier).

Depends how you define properly, not quite fighting shin to shin yet! I fight at Interclub level, hoping to step up to amateur by the end of next year if all goes well.

I train at the same gym/with the same trainer as one of the guys on the next series of Contender Asia

I am still going to do this program. I will put up before pictures before I start too. Wont be starting it for a good couple of weeks though as still trying to bulk up a bit first. This program looks like I will loose a lot of weight so want to be at least 13.5 stone before I start.

TBH you may as well just start this, it wont make you lose weight if you dont have it to, and it certainly will bulk you up (just look at the 1000's of vids and pics about).

ah...

finished plyometrics... just took some pics and i almost look like i did at the start (if I look like this at 30 days my pics will not be going online LOL!).

interestingly the 1.5-2 week pics i took look a lot better than I do now, I had clearly lost weight and started getting more defined.

Thing i don't understand at the moment is how i seem to have lost muscle definition, especially in my chest. Bearing in mind, even if i did intake a lot of beer cals, I'd expect it to just put a layer of fat over the top and not lose me muscle! This looks more like the muscle has been lost.

I've decided I'm going to completely re do my diet... I'm taking in far too many carbs at the mo... mainly for ease of it all...

Basically I had read one of the pro guys at p90x was having wholemeal ceriel in morning with milk, and 2 chicken wraps at lunch!

I thought, well I'll have whole meal cereal for breakfast and 1 wholemeal chicken wrap for lunch and 1 for dinner / pre work out.

But that works out to be a lot of carbs! 80 -100 ish...

The problem I'm having is to intake the protein at lunch time without having a wrap or anything, I can't take a pre cooked chicken breast into work with me, I'd get weird looks.

I think I'm gonna switch back to my original diet, which I was doing when people said I wasn't eating enough.

2 scoops protein in morning,
bowl of wholegrain cereal with skimmed milk.

low fat low carb yoghurt for lunch (7g carb) + hand ful of nuts.

dinner, chicken breast + 2 scoops protein.
At least I was clearly losing weight and becoming defined at that point... I mean if you think about it, plyo burns 500-600 cals if you're lucky! 4 scoops of protein = 400 ish cals! you're barely even burning off the protein cals.

I also just found out why the new chicken I bought and have been having for dinner was so rank!!

I previously, bought frozen chicken fillets which could be grilled from frozen! This new pack suggests oven cooking.......... BUT NOT FROM FROZEN Need to let it defrost first! OOPS!

Wondered why it was all wet and squishy when cooked

Yeah from what you u2u'd me you were taking in a lot of carbs compared to what they suggest in the first stage.

Dont forget, their diet plan isnt just to make you lose the weight, its to give your body what it needs to built the muscle, so although it may seem a good idea to cut right down to what you were doing previously this may not aid the growth and you'll again not notice any gains.

Also, dont forget that the initial loss you experienced could of been down to a number of other reasons not just the workout, i.e. water loss. Your body isnt really going to change dramatically in just 10-14days but it will over the 90 if you stick to what it suggests.

BTW - whats strange about taking a chicken breast salad in to work with you? Thats more or less spot on with their diet (including a low fat dressing). I presume you're taking the wrap in so that isnt much different.

to be honest, i'm looking forward to next phase where I can have brown rice. will make dinner less bland.

I'll probably give the chicken salad thing a go though! just need a pot! Will cook it up the night before, dice it... then chuck some leaves in and seal it.

question, what do you use for salad dressing?

Also i heard you were basting your chicken in bbq sauce / reggae reggae? I'd of thought both would be high in sugar? / frucose etc.

- recommend a low carb / low sugar bbq sauce?
