Odds on Andy Carroll joining Liverpool slashed to 1/5 following a flurry of bets with Fernando Torres now 4/11 to leave.

Kenny Dalglish fiercely denied that Liverpool were prepared to sell Fernando Torres. The Anfield boss also confirmed that he had money to spend at a time when reports have emerged regarding a bid for Andy Carroll.

Fuck about, if thats true them our owners must be serious.

Imagine Torres & Carroll together!

Imagine if Liverpool sell Torres but then don't have any time left to spend the money on other players

As you said the other day though, not sure whether i'd like to see a fit Drogba & Torres together, would be scary.

On a lower league note, Adam Le Fondre has said he won't be signing a new contract at Rotherham, would be a good signing for up to Championship imo, Derby are desperate for a striker, should move for him

No doubt about the biggest drama so far today, Liverpool's failed £30m bid for Andy Carroll. The domestic transfer record is the £30m that Manchester United paid Leeds for Rio Feridnand in 2002. Will that record stand at the end of today?

Looking that way. Unless City stick a £31M Bid in for Adam.

I think it's going to be blown away by a surprise bid from money bags Tottenham.

He's passed his medical and agreed terms, we are delaying unveilling him until we can do it with our other signings.

Tevez rumoured to be £40m+ but yeah it's a big bid (too big) if true that it's £30m. I would have imagine we'd table £20m first.

I like the fact that we aren't f*cking around though.

@skybet_tim: We're seeing most of the money for Fernando Torres not to leave and have reacted by cutting odds on him staying to 5/6.

Why not just confirm he's signed and will be unveiled later in the week then?

The Editor: Latest report on Fernando Torres is he's left Liverpool's Melwood training ground by helicopter. Destination unknown but watch this space...
